Prestige Financial ripoff Salt Lake City Utah

Unlike most reports about prestige financial, I do not have bad credit, in the 620's. I was told when I purchased my 2006 Prius from Laryy Miller here in Arizona that the car was going to be financed my Toyota. My interest rate was well below 10% for this new car.

A couple days later, prestiage called my house and stated that they would be financing my car at the agreed interest rate. Not a problem I thought, the lady on the other end of the phone sounded pleasant enough, and I have no problems with any other company that I have worked with in the past.

Well, 30 days later the "account manager" called me up on my home phone to read me their rules. She said that she would be calling the day before the payment was due and if she could not get ahold of me and did not return the phone call within 24 hours that she would call my references, and that I had initialed a box on the contract stating that I understood that their was no grace peroid.

I told her to hold on and I retrieved the contract from my safe and looked at the contract. Sure enough, there was no place stating that there was no grace peroid and no box could be found eigther.

She rambeled on on how they were serious about it, and I told her it sounded like I got ahold of a bad company. She told me to get the car refinanced if I did not like it.

Well, I sent them a payment via bank wire the day before the payment was due, but the payment was only for half of the payment, but sure enough, she called the day before the payment was due to remind me to make the payment.

I told her I was going to make the payment on Friday, and that the payment was going to be a few days late. She ranted and pitched a fit about the payment being late, whatever.

The next morning (the day the payment is due) this lady from prestige called (same one as before) all upset about only receiving half a payment, and how prestige did not accept partial payments.

I told her to return the money to me if she did not want a partial payment. Well, needless to day she did not want to return the money to me but stated that I had 7 hours to get them the rest of the money. I told her; to-bad so-sad, she was going to have to wait until Friday (I had the money but love the fight) She got all upset and asked me to return the car to them. I laughed and asked where would she like me to return the car to. There was no answer and she stated that she was going to send someone right out to get "our car" and then she hung up on me.

I called my prepaid legal service and was told that if they wanted to repo the car let them, and that I was not late and that Arizona law gives 60 days after a late payment to allow them to repo the car. I was also told to clean the car up, take time dated pictures (dated via news paper), and wait for them to come, and if they don't come go ahead and make the payment.

Needless to say, no one ever came for the car. I find this company amuzing to deal with. Oh, I made the payment Friday morning.

I now have computer software that records phone calls between prestige and myself.

It is illegal for a creditor to threaten to do something they cannot to are not going to do. Sure, you can only sue them for $150.00 a pop, but hey, with this girls temper, it should be easy to make a creditor harrassment case.

I live down the street from the court house. I sued in small claims a company the has issues like prestige and won all the cases ( $1,500.00 lmit here in Arizona, small claims ). I look forward to prestige financial making some of the payment for me.

Oh, for those who are interested, you can file a withstraining order on Prestige to stop them from calling your references, especially if they are harrassing you or your references. Courts give them out like candy.
