As a former middle and high school principal, I have worked with many fitness programs for families. I am compelled to notify others of the unethical behavior of the Professional Fitness/ Beyond Fitness company.
In an attempt to help my family control diabetes, I employed Professional Fitness. I am warning families not to make the same poor decision.

If you have made the mistake of signing a contract. Please be aware that they will continue to withdraw money from your account once the contract ends. My contract ended in July. They still took 360.00 in August. Please do not subject your family to this company nor any establishment that houses Professional Fitness.

Contract goes through regardless

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 12, 2009

Contrary to what the alleged employee wrote in 2007, the contract goes through regardless of whether you initial the auto-renewal or not. My family works for the company so I know how it works. Even if you don't initial the auto-renewal, they put the contract through anyways because MOST clients don't read the contract and most don't keep their copy of the contract so they have no way of disputing the auto-renewal charges because they have no proof they didn't initial their compliance with that policy.

At the same time, don't wrongly believe that if you change your credit card # or do a stop payment on your down payment check that you won't get drafted. You will, because they submit it to the billing company anyway and the down payment amount is added to your overall bill. Technically, you should be delinquent the down payment amount, but if they make you delinquent then they can't draft your account. They'd rather add that down payment amount to your overall bill and have your account/card drafted every month because then you accrue unpaid debt. By the time you finish getting the run-around, you'll realize you have to pay the delinquent amount in order to cancel your contract and in order to cancel the auto-renewal. By then you may be delinquent hundreds to thousands of dollars, plus you still have to pay that cancellation fee.

Advice: Read the fine print before you sign anything--that means front and back. On the contract it says you have the right to ask for a copy of the contract and to have it reviewed by a lawyer prior to signing it...ask for a copy of the contract and stick with it. No matter what keep asking for a copy of the contract BEFORE signing it and tell them you'll come back. There's a 99% chance they won't give you a copy of the contract to let a lawyer look over it.

Read what you sign

There are a few people on here complaining of Beyond Fitness/Professional Fitness taking money from their accounts after the contract period. If you look at your contract, at the bottom there is a place that you initialed authorizing them to continue taking the same amount out of your account (auto-renewal) unless you submit a request to stop.

You could have sent in your request at any time to stop it via certified mail to the corporate office in Raleigh. I know you signed this because the contract would have never gone through without your initials unless you paid for your sessions in full. In the future I advise that you read anything you sign to avoid misunderstandings like this.
