I had a judgment filed against me in 2004 by a company called Legal recoveries here in Louisville on behalf of Providian Bank for a credit card debt. I paid this in full, however I am in the process of buying a house and the mortgage broker states it still shows on my credit as unsatisfied. I am trying to track down the proof that I paid this since it has been so long. I can not find this company in the phone book or online. Do you have any information about a company called Legal Recoveries? thank you in advance for your time and quick response. any help would be appreciated

You should look the company Phone # on the credit report and call the company. If no one is available on that phone # .call the credit bureaus and dispute this listing.Providian has finished their business in year 2003 now they are merged to WAMU.
Dispute the listing with them too.but you have to wait for 30 days.If the reporting period has expired on this listing then you can immediately get this removed just by calling the credit bureaus. GOOD LUCK

Request validation of the item on your credit report...If the credit bureaus can't find this company either and validate the item, then they have to remove it.
Mail a letter via certified mail with return receipt to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion & Experian). Include a photocopy of your driver's license and social security card...If you don't include these, they may write back requesting them, which would slow the process down by several weeks. In your letter, simply state:
Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this item from Legal Recoveries Inc.
