I added a line to my Sprint account at Radio Shack in Hudson, OH.  They convinced me to purchase their insurance plan instead of the Sprint plan.  I was told there was a $50.00 deductible.

The phone was dropped in the water. I went in to ask them how to file a claim. They said the insurance doesn't cover the phone getting wet. I tried to call the number any way and was advised that it would be a $100 deductible; however, the 'insurance company' had no record of my phone purchase. I couldn't' get any where with these people so I ended the call and just put the phone away until I could come up with the $100 deductible and find out why they had no record of my purchase.

Later the phone was stolen.  I called again to Radio Shack to get the insurance company's number and was advised that the insurance didn't cover stolen phones. What does this damned insurance cover???

A complete and total rip-off.  They won't do anything for you, so what's the point of having the 'insurance'. Radio Shack shouldn't even be able to offer this to people if it does them no good. Now i'm paying monthly on an insurance plan I can't even make a claim against!

Radioshack phone insurance a joke

AUTHOR: cdm0656 - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 23, 2013

My husband and I bought two new phones through radioshack and sprint as the carrier. Spent over an hour with the salesman and he seemed very knowledgeable and straightup kinda guy. My husband is very tech savy and asked alot of good questions including about the insurance plan.  We made it very clear that we were only interested in paying for the insurance if it covered everything on both phones. He advised to go with Radioshack insurance and explained that it was better coverage than Sprints. It was well worth it to have that extra coverage for a lost or stolen phone because these were the Samsung 4 and 3 and quite expensive.

Needless to say, not even 3 months from our purchase I had my phone stolen and went into radioshack to file the paperwork and to pay my deductable only to be told that it wasnt covered!! We assured the manager that the salesman who sold us the phones told us otherwise. Now he tells the guy no longer works there and there isnt anything they can do. Now I am out a new phone that I am paying for plus paying for the insurance on a phone I dont have. I will no longer have anything to do with this store and will tell everyone I know about this. I warn people to just go straight to the cellphone store to purchase phones.
