First let me say that once a manufacturer is aware of misleading and deceptive sales tactics of their distributors, they should be responsible for correcting the problem. However, since this has been reported by others before, it seems the manufacturer does not do so and thus I hold them responsible.

After reading other Ripoff Reports, I can see that many Rainbow Vacuum system distributors use the same seedy misleading tactic of telling people that they won the main prize at the home show or won 1 or 3 prizes as a concellation prize.

They then state they will bring the prize if you watch a demo of the vacuum. You will see in my story that they just dont draw you and you win... they take ALL the entries and tell everyone that they were the winner. That is called a Deceptive and Misleading Sales Tactic.

I dont mind getting the demo with the prize, what I mind is the fact that they lie when they call. It turns out that after the Las Vegas Home Show they called ALL, yes ALL the people that entered for a chance to win a prize (giving no authorization on their entry for any sales contacts) and told them they were one a of a couple people that were drawn in the concellation drawing at the home show to win a Rainmate!

I know because I went with a group and we ALL got the call!

Then when the salesperson came, they knew nothing of our prize and only asked what we were promised for watching their demo so that they could get it from their car.

I wouldnt mind if I had filled out a card and said it was okay for a sales person to contact me or if they called and said I lost, but would I be interested in seeing their product. But instead to call everyone and lie that they are 1 of 3 people that won the drawing.

They also called my mother and she assumed they were from another company that she had contacted for more information. They let her think they were from that other company until they got to the demonstration committment, then they told her who they really represented.

If the distributors use this type of sales tactic, why in the world would I want to buy their product?

PS: This distributor has a "unsatisfactory rating" from the Southern Nevada BBB and also last check had their business license with the state listed as in "Default" as of 4/2005.

If Rexair is such a longstanding good company, how can they let these distributors do this?

The first stage of "BUYER'S REMORSE" is that you did'nt get scammed. The second is Defending the company and hoping others will be suckered too. After all, STUPIDITY LOVES COMPANY!

Spoke With Manager - thumbs up to the Rexair corporation for followup on my problem.

I spoke with the manager of the local distributor and after a lengthly conversation, it was determined that a deviation from their set script for consumer contact led to their phone presentation appearing misleading.

She agreed that they either need to make sure their people follow their script or rewrite it to make sure it is accurate.

I am still not sure about my mom, but since
i was not there, I cannot get more info on that.

So that closes the episode.

PS: Rexair, Inc handled the problem stellar by contacting their District Manager, who gave the distributor 2 hours to contact me and work to resolve what went wrong.

So thumbs up to the Rexair corporation for followup on my problem.
