So like so many people I'm embarresed to admit I got suckered into this deal, 15 day vacation spanning Ft. Lauderdale, Carribean Cruise, Daytona, bonus spots and the like.

------Standard Stuff, Most people will know this by now if your doing research------

$798 UPFRONT for 2 ppl (two additional spots were 'free'), not to mention in USD (as I discovered afterwards. I'm in Canada, and contacted by a Toronto phone number).

They didn't mention that it was a non-cancalation sale, nor that it was primarily in USD (they did for the cruise and prices you pay once your IN the USA).

They described it as if I won a fabulous prize, but apparently it was a 'promotional offer' with extra costs for the Cruise. I did my research afterwards (they were very persistant that I register at the time, as it was apparently the last day, I caved for various reasons unfortunately) and found out I'd been screwed. Not an outright scam but a legal ripoff, with lawsuits against them in progess.

------End the standard fair, my action follows------

I called them the day after and requested cancellation.
After getting redirected to Henry (a 2nd tier operator / 'Consumer Service Specialist') he told he needed my registration/referance number or offer number something like that, which was not amoung the various codes and serials the seller had given me. He said it would be a several hours before the number entered their system (since I did it the day before). Later on out of curiosity I called back and spoke to a front line operator and asked for my referance number, they said it would take 1-2 WEEKS for the number to enter their system.

So I gave up for awhile, then I got impatient and called again. Got to a 2nd tier operator again (didn't get the name, accent was slight but made me miss a few words) who grilled me about why I wanted to leave, mentioned the unsatisfied population was a mere 4% or their customer base (any comments on this?) and additional mods they could make to my package to encourage me to stay.

Desite saying they are pre-paid vacations and refunds are not issued, eventually she specifically said (so I hope) my '$798 would be credited' back and gave me a cancellation number.

Unfortunately I didn't get the name of the last two operators I spoke to, as they were polite even though they insisted I listen to their additional offers, and issued my refund.

Hopefully they're not just playing me along like they did some other RipOffReporters, and they're becoming less anal about screwing us.

It should be noted I called the real Ramada, the operator kinda sighed in aknowledgement when I mentioned Ramada Plaza Resorts, and said they did not officially endorse RPR and that it was operated by some guy who owned a couple Ramada Hotels/Resorts/Motels, which gave him permission to use 'Ramada' for his scam.
