We went to Recreational Factory Warehouse,Fort Myers,Florida, January 15,2006 to purchase an above ground oval pool. We were greeting by a new associate who then forwarded us to an man in his 40's. The man came out with an attitude telling us we only have possibly 2 pools in stock. Pools are half off this time of year! New 2006 models will be here in March at the regular price. One was a small circular pool which we did not want and he would check on the oval pool we had inquired about.
He left, came back and said he has one in the back but it does not have a pool liner,it would be about 2 weeks before it would come in. We said that was okay because we would need to prep the land before putting up the pool anyway. We also discussed with him about delivery of the pool. He did not seem pleased about that inquiry, quoted us a price for delivery which we were okay with. He then told us someone else had put a deposit down on this very pool 1 month ago and has not been back.
If we wanted this pool we would need to pay for it and take it today. We said okay. Then he proceeded to change his verbiage to tell us "he wanted it out of the store" "has to be gone now", he repeated this several times. We told him we would have to go back home to get our trailer (1/2 hour away) and return (1 hour round trip). He told us to leave a deposit to hold the pool to go get the trailer. We told him we would be paying for the entire amount right now. He told us "Well, if someone else comes in while you are gone and pays for the pool and has the vehicle to take it with them, it is theirs.
We repeated we would be paying for the pool in full at this time. He said that it didn't matter, that if someone else comes in right after we leave to pick up our trailer and pays for it, they can take it away that's just the way it is. He would however refund our money. We were starting to get aggravated because,if a product is purchased, regardless if it is taken out the door at that time, it is still the property of the purchaser. There should not be a "double sale" on a product.
We went back and forth for several minutes about this issue and he continued to get ruder and ruder about the subject. It had to be out of the store right now or it might not be ours when we return. We do not like to be bullied or pressured into something so we told him never mind, he just walked away and said "see ya". We left and the more we thought about the madder we got.
You would think a business would accomodate a customer if a product is paid for in addition to accessories we going to purchase while we were there, especially for 1 hour of transport time. Fortunately, we did not put one penny down after reading all of these problems with RFW. Thank you for this website!

Recreational Factory Warehouse-Phone Etiquette

Today, January 16,2006, my husband called Recreational Factory Warehouse to speak with the Manager about yesterday's episode. Someone tranferred the phone and a man came on the phone. My husband believed the voice sounded like the same person who helped us yesterday. My husband began to explain what happened yesterday and that this would have been the second pool purchased from RFW and the person hung up on him! This just proves that they are a very unbusiness like company and we will not do business with them ever again.
