I don't even know where to begin! I guess I started out more curious about the Muay Thai program than the Jiu Jitsu, but they convinced me to try both. I was disappointed to find out that even thought they tout "Bang Muay Thai", Duane "Bang" Ludwig lives in California and is never even at their gym, and he only instructed the current "head" MT instructor, who is just a p***k with self-esteem issues, for a very short time. I never got to meet Bang and found out that when he does come, I would have to pay huge additional fees to attend his one-time seminar! What kind of crap is that? Why am I paying monthly for "Bang" Muay Thai when I am obviously not getting it? And that's just the whole way of this gym. Smoke and mirrors.

I did jiu jitsu under their brown belt, Ryan Walden, for the most part. I once heard him describe himself as patient, but I realized quickly that his patince is paper thin. I wanted to do mma because I wanted to feel confident and to learn the truth about where my lines could be drawn. I don't feel like I can ever learn that under this guy, now that I see what he's like. He's the kind of spoiled punk that thinks he's entitled to respect even if he's disrespectful, entitled to your money even if he doesn't do his job, and entitled to leadership even though he's never learned first how to follow. He pays no attention to what's going on in his classes once he tells us what to do. I've even seen him texting or fbing while we're in our one hour class. And I've seen him chicken out of rolling with some of the bigger purple belts and once, a guest brown belt, which is not cool since BJJ is supposed to make up for size. He acts like he's too good when the truth seems to be more that he's too lazy and afraid to lose. He's just a pigeon-toed geek with dumb a*s tattoos and a rich mommy. I get the feelinging his nasty girlfriend cheats on him, too.  I found out his family has a history of crime- the Smalldones were their names. It's kind of wierd that the State Patrol is involved with him. Seems like something sketchy could be going on there for sure.

After a few months of witnessing this stuff I wanted out. I told them I felt like I was getting ripped off in the MT program entirely and that I would like a full refund for that, and since I hadn't been to any bjj classes in several weeks I wanted my last payment back that they had just taken. They completely refused. Ryan said I was ungrateful and didn't deserve to have ever walked into RFLX! Ha! I threatened to write reviews on google and he said to go ahead. So here I am, writing every kind of negative review I can. He doesn't seem to realize how easy it is to see through his bullshit.

I have been training with Ryan Walden for over a year now, and I am not sure where this guy got this stuff. I have seen NOTHING like what is reported in this slanderous report.

RFLX and its entire coaching staff are nothing but patient, supportive, and caring about their members. However, I will say this. If you are the type of person that would write something like this report, you will not last long at this gym. The staff and members, are mature caring individuals that spend their lives helping to build each other and the society they live in up.

Pay no attention to what ever skewed motives this guy had to write this report, not one word of it is true.

Not true!!

Nothing is farther from the truth! I travel over 10 miles to train at rflx training center rather then 1.5 miles to continue my training at 303. The reason I go to rflx is because of Ryan ,who has been a great coach and mentor to me.

The people at Rflx training are dedicated and are great roll models for my son who takes the kids classes and loves it.

Oh yes also Professor Correa one of the most respected black belts in the BJJ world. teaches there 2 times a week, and by the way decided to leave 303 and join Rflx.

The bad report sounds personal ,put up by the owner. All I can tell you is drop in and see for yourself.

The coaching staff is as good as any I have been around ,and I've been doing BJJ for quite a while.

Thank you Ryan,Erica, and the staff for all you do for me and my family.

Nothing But Lies, Hearsay and Personal Attacks

AUTHOR: Anonymous - ()

POSTED: Friday, June 21, 2013

I am shocked and saddened to read the lies, hearsay, and personal attacks posted on this website.

First off, anyone who follows the sport of MMA knows that Duane "Bang" Ludwig recently moved from Denver to Sacramento so he could accept a full time position as the head coach for Team Alpha Male.  It even says so on the RFLX website.  And I quote: "He (Coach Ludwig) currently teaches and coaches full time at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento CA."  Also, he is listed as a professor, not as a staff member or instructor.  See for yourself: http://lafayette.rflxtrainingcenter.com/staff/ . No big secret there.

The lying slanderer asked, "Why am I paying monthly for "Bang" Muay Thai when I am obviously not getting it?"  Students at the RFLX Center ARE getting Bang Muay Thai.  We are taught the same methods Coach Ludwig uses to train professional UFC fighters at Team Alpha Male.  It is an extremely technical system, and I am sure Coach Ludwig will be more than willing to vouch for his instructors during the July 20th seminar the liar was whining about.

Regarding those "huge additional fees to attend his one-time seminar," it's $70 for pre-registration, and $90 to attend the day of.  Not much, when you consider that Duane "Bang" Ludwig is a champion kickboxer, holds the record for the fastest KO in UFC history, and was personally invited to coach one of the top fight teams in MMA.  Once again, it's all on the website: http://lafayette.rflxtrainingcenter.com/bang-muay-thai-seminar-%E2%80%A2-rflx-training-center-%E2%80%A2-lafayette-co/

Affiliates are nothing new in the world of martial arts.  How else could someone learn an art from Brazil or Thailand without actually moving there?  Are people naive enough to think that a Gracie will teach every class at every Gracie Jiu Jitsu gym around the world?  Writing off an affiliate as merely "smoke and mirrors" shows extreme ignorance.  I find it ironic that the liar projected his/her own arrogance and dishonesty in the title of the thread.

As for Coach Ryan Walden, he is one of the warmest, most positive, most nurturing coaches you could hope for in any situation.  So are all of the other coaches and staff members listed on the website.  If Coach Ryan did have to avert his attention from a class, I have no doubt that he would have left that class under the care of another qualified coach.

The school touts safety first, and they practice what they preach.  I have never seen a class or a sparring session that was unattended.  In fact, students are not even allowed to "roll", or spar, until they've earned two stripes.

Although I am extremely overweight and in my 40's, I'm learning new skills and losing weight.  Most importantly, I’m not getting hurt in the process. I've done martial arts and combat sports before, but I thought my training days were behind me. RFLX's intelligent, methodical, and safety-first approach is what inspired me to pick it up again.

Twice a week, a close family friend who trains at the RFLX Center drives my 8 year old son to the kids Jiu Jitsu and MMA MetaFit conditioning while I am at work.  One time, Coach Walden went as far as to pick up my son from daycare to make sure he was able to attend class.  That is how much confidence I have in Ryan Walden as both a coach and a human being.

The environment is family friendly, fun, and challenging.  One of our coaches is in his 50's, and trains with his 18 year old son.  My son, in particular, leaves every class with an endorphin high and a smile on his face.  In his first three weeks there, he lost weight and made gains in strength and agility. The training and positive reinforcement has given him a huge boost in confidence and self-esteem.  The RFLX Center is not the place for thugs or wannabe tough-guys.  The RFLX is a place for growth and development.

The rest of the personal attacks are not even worth addressing.  I only hope that anyone reading this uses some common sense and picks up on the half truths, crude language, and personal attacks on the original post.  Do not let a liar with an agenda stop you from checking out one of the best MMA gyms in the Boulder/Denver area.

You started? You lasted a flew months? RFLX LAFYETTE been open only FOUR MONTHS.  Only four months, but it seems this poster has gotten EXTREMELY close to our staff. Close enough to  analyze the personality of one of our Muay Thai instructors. Close enough to know the intimate details of the relationship between the head instructor and his girlfriend.

did you ever contact Duane personally? He keeps very close and invested interest, of all the instructors in his organization.

Did you speak to any of it he other staff, whip care deeply or their students and teammates? Address your concerns?

Youve personally researched the instructors ancestory? You know his mother? His extended family? Apparently you do. As thou just committed libel, by falsely connecting someone with organized crime.

Or... Is it possible this is all a personal attack? Perpetrated by someone, or some people who have a personal vendetta?

Come to RFLX. see for yourself what our instructors are like. See why many people have come from other gyms, to be with the people here. This guys is by the students, for the students. Because everyone involved has seen the egos, and selfishness Involved in other gyms. Come see.

This was definitely a fake report

Hi,

Wow, I have been training with RFLX since they opened and I can honestly say that everything about this ripoff report is a complete lie! Here is the truth:

1) RFLX offers a safe, respectful, relaxed and supportive environment for students and staff that encourages optimal personal growth. I can't stress enough how important it is to train in a gym that focuses on the growth of their students in a safe environment. RFLX does a fantastic job. Rather than teaching a random "BJJ move of the day" that lacks in context and causes injury, the instructors spend a lot of time making sure their students are "getting it" and each class builds upon the last, allowing the student to understand their body and the motion. Not only are the BJJ and Muay Thai instructors top notch, but RFLX teaches the mindset of harmony, peace and prosperity to be used in everyday life. I've trained at many gyms, and I can honestly say this gym is one of my favorites. I'm very content with my decision to train here. I love the people at RFLX :)

2) Ryan and his other half, Erica, are the nicest people I've ever met. Both of them are very positive and caring individuals. They are good at what they do. Erica (who is a wonderful Mom) works hard and makes sure the staff and students are happy. Ryan is very patient and kind. He takes the time to answer all my questions during and after training. I've trained at many gyms around the U.S and I can say that his teaching is high quality, and he is very talented- I hope to be as awesome as he is one day!

3) I'm very shocked that someone would "troll" and write something crazy to hurt a business... maybe they should work on making their gym better, rather than trying to bash their competition. Shows you their true character and they should be ashamed for lashing out in jealousy.

I Love RFLX! Thank you guys for being awesome and sorry for the rocks in the road! People will see for themselves how awesome you guys really are!
