Riverside County PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION www.riversidecountygov.us False promises/Identity Theft Riverside, California

This company sends letter to homes, portraying themselves as a government agency; in the letter they advise you to file a tax exempt form or a Property Tax Exemption Decrease with a one-time 25.00 dollars charge, in the letter they threat people with immediate rejection of claim should the homeowner refuse to supply them with their social security number. This company claims if owner fails to file this Property Tax Exemption Form he may be subject to their lender initiating an ACCELERATION CLAUSE in the homeowner's Trust Deed, which means that the Mortgage Note will become immediately due & payable; they claim the $25.00 it's an administration fee for facilitating the property tax exemption.
  All offers in this letter are false, they do not provide any services, they falsely portray themselves as a government agency(Riverside County Seal, and City of Riverside Seal), in their internet form, they asked for every private information possible, Social Securities, phone numbers, addresses, birth dates, previous addresses.  When logging into their website they offer other false services, such as but not limited to the following: Disabled Veteran's Tax Exemption, $25.00 fee, Parent-Child Exclusions, $250.00 fee, Re-Appraisals and Re-Assessment Requests, $50.00.
  After several months of waiting for confirmation, after I had filed my form for Property Tax Exemption, I called them at the phone number provided and a female voice answered with "hello", I asked her if I had the right number, if this was a County of Riverside Office, and she answered me with a question, she asked me, "what is it that you want?", I told her that I was trying to find out the status of a Tax Exemption Claim I had filed with them, the woman at the other end of the line hung up on me at this point, I figured we had been disconnected therefore I redialed, she answered again with a "hello", this time I apologized for the disconnection, I asked her if I could give her my phone number so she could pull up my information, you could hear a television or radio in the background, she asked me for my social security instead, and said she would have someone give me a phone call back, it was at this point when I got spooked, and asked her if she was working out of her home, she asked me, "what do you want me to do for you? either give me your social security number or don't call me again".
  Needless to say I am terrified, I gave these thieves all my personal information, only God knows what they are doing with it, as far as the $25.00 dollars I lost, I really don't care, it is all the vital information they took from me, and who knows how many victims there are out there.
  I went to the County Assessor's Office, to file my Property Tax Exemption form again, and I told them about this company, and they told me they hear it at least 3 or 4 times a day, we don't charge any $25.00 fee for filing, and they also told me, they were very familiar with the false company name, and told me they used to do this same scam in the County of San Diego, the D.A. went after them, so they changed their place of scamming to the County of Riverside; I am sure they will move to a different county once things get a bit hot for them
