We purchased two cars from RPM, one for us and one for our son.  We don't have the best credit so we had to go to a lot that finances itself.  Interest rates there are typically 25%.

The first problem that we had with them was that if you are 1 day late on a payment they make numerous calls and are rude.

Second, our car a 2006 Dodge Magnum, had a messed up front drivers side door hinge, it made loud creeking sounds everytime you opened or closed it, this was within the first month of owning the car.  We took the car in, the mechanic looked at it and said that he could fix it but he would have to order it and we would have to bring it back.  After several phone calls and at least two weeks later the part was finally in, so we made arraingments and dropped the car off the next morning, it was guarenteed to be fixed by the time that we got out of work that afternoon.  Upon going to pick the car up, we were told that "No the mechanic couldn't make the repair, that had to be done at the body shop".  So we drove around the building to the body shop and the body guy said that he could do it, but we would have to bring it back because he was closing for the day.  So we brought it back the next day and waited for the repair to be done.  It took at least two hours, while we sat and listened to the guys in the shop talk like guys in a shop do. Once it was fixed and we looked at it, the hinge was black instead of silver like the other one and the body of the car.  We agreed to leave it as was because we were disgusted by the amount of time and trips that we already had invested.

Third, we took a trip to Florida just under a year after buying the car.  On the way back, when the weather got cold, no matter what setting that we had the heat/defrost on the windows were frosting up.  So we called them and told the mechanic what was going on, he made an appointment for us to bring the car in.  We took it in and he looked at it, he told us that the problem could be fixed, but it would have to be sent to Flint.  We checked on the car every couple of days and the mechanic kept telling us that it was not back from Flint yet.  This went on for 3 weeks until they called to tell us that we were late with a payment.  That is when we were informed that the car was still sitting there and that it never had went to Flint.  We went and picked the car up and took it to a "REAL" Dodge dealership and for $98 they did a total diagnostic and an oil change.  Diagnoses: Nothing wrong with the car, design flaw.

Last, and most recent, the son's car.  He owes about $1700 on the car, it is currently in the shop, a different one, to get a rebuilt transmission, this is after putting $500 into it last week.  So the pay off is $1700 and he will have put upwards of $2000 into in the last two weeks.

There are other examples that I could give, but I think that you get the idea.  Think long and hard before doing business with this company!!!

You did buy a USED CAR and apparently without a warranty.  Cars do break down.  This is normal.  However, if you feel you are not being treated properly, there's nobody holding you to always go to that dealer.  Nor are you required to go to a Dodge dealer and pay huge amounts!  I suggest you find and cultivate a relationship with a good independent mechanic...a mechanic who has his own shop and actually runs it as a business, not a shade tree "mechanic" or somebody operating out of a storage shed.  The interest rate is high because you made yourself a bigger credit risk by developing a history of not paying your bills on time.  If you are late, hell yes they are going to call you!  If you don't want them to call, there's an EASY solution...pay on time.
