This company is a joke.
Weather your looking to purchase the software, become a reseller or looking for employment, please look to another company.

If you are a customer or reseller and interested this software don't even bother. This software has so many bugs in it that it's still in beta version. (You call for tech support with a problem, they send you an ".exe" to install - For those who are not technical, it's like new software.) There technical support is terrible. Every time you call you never get a live body. (Trust me it will get annoying when you have to call so many times.) Even the way the software looks is terrible. It looks like it was made in the 80's. Take a look at there website (www.telecost.com) and you'll notice why the software is bad. To make think worse you pay 4K US for the software and all you receive is a CD in a sleeve.

For those how are looking for employment, be prepared to be under paid and over worked. This company will hire student's right out of college to cut cost. This company offers a base salary of 28K CDN sales reps (no commission) and technicians. Senior representative only make 2-3K more without commission. (Some employees that have been there for 5+ years are only make 34K CDN) Salary is only offered to employees to benefit company. Example: If you work late you don't get paid extra or get time off. If you miss a day you get detected.

Technicians that carry a weekly pager with 24/7 support, only receive an additional $50 on there paycheck.
What about the benefits???? None. RSI Employees will receive 2 sick days yearly. You have to work the full 2 years to receive the sick days and or work 6 months to get 1 sick day or 3 months for half a sick day. In regards to vacation, you have to work the full year before you can take some vacation time.
Other reason not to work at RSI:
- Harassment (touching, verbal)
- They give you Pentium II PC to work on
- When doing onsite visits they don't pay for kilometers used on your car
- High turnover

#6 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Do not work or buy from these people

AUTHOR: Joe - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2006

Everything stated is true. Governement or a formal investigation needs to take place to do something as they are terribly mistreating their employees and have been getting away with it for years. Go in there and have a 1 on 1 with each employee and you will find out the truth.

#2 UPDATE Employee

inaccurate assertion of the facts. ??? ..Everything stated in the initial report is true.

AUTHOR: no name - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, January 08, 2006

Everything stated in the initial report is true.

"You have a comment that is now indexing in search engines (that is how I found this site)that is based purely on personal perception from a disgruntal employee. It is simply signed "Resource". How does one defend against such ridiculous claims?"

None of this is "personal perception", as the owner of the company confirmed each and every one of the complaints made against them. Why does the name matter Rito? Looking to make more peoples lives miserable even AFTER they've left?

"There technical support is terrible. Every time you call you never get a live body. (Trust me it will get annoying when you have to call so many times.)"

Technical support (if that's what you want to call it) IS a joke. Customers have waited days even *weeks* before getting support on this software, all the while losing income because it doesn't work.

"To make think worse you pay 4K US for the software and all you receive is a CD in a sleeve."

You had better hope you don't misplace/scratch/break your cd in a sleeve, because it will cost you $50 to replace it.

"Our employees are paid far more than what is stated in this post. Indeed, our sales people are paid above the national average."

This is untrue. There are many employees making far less then 28k/year (which IS the starting salary) who have identical resposibility (and in some cases more). When "promoted" to another position within the company, the employee will not get a raise until their one year mark, or should I say 15 months, as they do not consider the first 3 months (probationary period), as time worked.

"They also have a reward plan."

This is true (but wasn't when the original poster filed this complaint).

It works like this:

You have a set "goal" (made up by management) to reach each week. If you reach that goal one week, you "qualify" to receive comission the next week as long as you reach your pre-determined "goal". If you do, you receive $50 (the "goals" range from 10-15k). If you do not, it's back to square one and you need to re-qualify next week in order to get *some* comission the week after that. There are some reps who have never seen a dime from this "reward plan". Basically, you need to make the company a minimum of 20k within a 2 week period to see your $50.

"There is very limited turnover."

This is also untrue. Within the last year, 8 employees have left RSI to "pursue other opportunities" simply because of the way they are treated.

"Most of our senior managers have been with us between 3-12 years. Their salaries are much higher than 34K (as stated in the post)."

This is also true, but senior MANAGERS was not what the original poster was talking about. It was senior SALES reps who are lucky if they receive a 1k "bump" after their 15 months of employment.

"Employees will receive 2 sick days yearly. You have to work the full 2 years to receive the sick days and or work 6 months to get 1 sick day or 3 months for half a sick day. In regards to vacation, you have to work the full year before you can take some vacation time."

This is true. Our prospective employees are given clear direction of these rules in their initial interview. They are also given an Employee Handbook which clearly identifies this policy. It is completely within the labour guidelines of the province of Ontario."

It is the absolute bare minimum. If they could give employees *no* sick days they would. There was an employee who worked with us who received a written warning for their employee file for missing 7 days since June 05 (in December 05). Three and a half of these days this person was in the hospital with their ill mother (who has since, from what I have heard passed away). Nice huh?

There was also an employee who spent 12 hours in an airport and was not compensated for this time. Instead, he got docked for missing an hour the next morning because he slept in...he did not get HOME from this job until 3am the night before.

"Additionally, I have never been informed or seen any form of harassment."

It's hard to say if this is true or not. There have been many complaints to management, but whether they were escalated to a higher level, one can never be sure. Either way, the complaints were always ignored.

"We do have a relatively young staff. Their average age is approx. 30. "

Also untrue (not including management). Average age is *maybe* 25. The youngest there now is 21 and the oldest is 28. All of which are severely underpaid.

"They all know each other well. Most of the sales team likes to hang out together after work. Similarly for the technical people. "

I don't see how this is relevent to anything stated above. Yes, most of the employees are friends, but in what company are they not? Even when they "hang out" after hours, a great deal of time is spent discussing new job opportunities and the injustice that IS Resource Software International.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Response to inaccurate assertion of the facts.

AUTHOR: Rito - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

Our company offers software products through some of North America's most prestigious companies through OEM and channel partner arrangements. Our software does not "look like it was made in the 80s". Our resellers and long list of customers would disagree as well.

You have a comment that is now indexing in search engines (that is how I found this site)that is based purely on personal perception from a disgruntal employee. It is simply signed "Resource". How does one defend against such ridiculous claims?

Our employees are paid far more than what is stated in this post. Indeed, our sales people are paid above the national average. They also have a reward plan.

There is very limited turnover. The few that have left in the last 2 years have either been dismissed for poor performance, relocated due to family obligations or gone back to school. Our turnover is no higher than any other company our size.

Most of our senior managers have been with us between 3-12 years. Their salaries are much higher than 34K (as stated in the post).

We have reliable and effective equipment for our sales and technical people. We do not have any PII's on our desktops. We do have some in our lab for testing backward compatibility.

Technicians are asked to rotate a pager (2 weeks every 2nd or 3rd month). The pager on average will ring once or twice during that span. They are paid $50.00/wk extra for this effort. This job function is spelled out to them during the interview process. So trade off the responsibility with technicians that prefer the extra cash.

The post stated:

"Employees will receive 2 sick days yearly. You have to work the full 2 years to receive the sick days and or work 6 months to get 1 sick day or 3 months for half a sick day. In regards to vacation, you have to work the full year before you can take some vacation time."

This is true. Our prospective employees are given clear direction of these rules in their initial interview. They are also given an Employee Handbook which clearly identifies this policy. It is completely within the labour guidelines of the province of Ontario.

We do have a policy of not paying for mileage. Employees fill their tanks at company expense and we rent them cars for those that are asked to travel long distance for installations. Additionally, I have never been informed or seen any form of harassment.

We do have a relatively young staff. Their average age is approx. 30. They all know each other well. Most of the sales team likes to hang out together after work. Similarly for the technical people.

I do not wish to have this published as a rebuttal. I do not believe in a pissing contest and draw more attention to a futile public discussion. I simply want to understand your protocol for publication of these off the wall remarks that damage reputations.
