Headphones stopped working just before ATT Service contact was up, new smartphone required a $30 extra data fee,  Local repairman checked phone, verifying a problem in which the sound was not routed to the headphone jack when headphones were plugged in. but because Samsung discontinued the phone after only two years,. the local repairman declined to work on it  He confirmed through a visual that that phone had never been dropped or suffered any water damage.

Samsung Repair in Plano Texas were contacted and so the sim  card was removed and phone sent in to repair center.

Phone was recieved back a day later with message, "unrepairable due to liquid damage and corrosion".

Phone was turned on without sim card after another a new phone contract with another provider and a more expensive new replacement phone and service plan was already purchased.

Local repairman re-checked phone and verified as I did that the headphone jack worked fine once the identifying sim card was removed, not identifying the owner (me) of the phone.

The headphone jack on the Samsung Blackjack works fine, sending sound to the headphones when plugged in.

More Fake Reports of Water Damage

AUTHOR: MaryG - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 22, 2011

My phone at this moment is at the repair center in Plano, TX.  It is a Samsung Propel.  I bought it brand new over the internet.  AT&T no longer sells this phone but I have a older one and wanted the same phone again.  I used it for about a week and a couple of the keys on the keypad stopped working.  That was all that was wrong with it so I sent it in to have it fixed.  Toay, I recieved a e-mail from the service people claiming the LCD screen also needed repair, for a additional $20.00.  This would be on top of the $70.00+ repair I was already expecting to pay since the phone was out of warrenty.  When I called they mentioned the phone had water damage - I say Bull!  I am a 49 year old women and this phone was Never Ever near any type of water.... I told them to send the phone back.  I am now worried that it will be returned with a broken LCD.

Samsung's Loophole

AUTHOR: Morgan Rachel - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 02, 2010

It would appear to me that Samsung uses the "liquid damage/corrosion/abuse" excuse to absolve themselves from any replacements or repair costs.

I was sold a faulty Samsung Captivate phone ($600) which completely stopped working in under 2 months. I sent it in and was told the same as you, and that it was "Beyond Economical Repair" aka - they don't want to pay for it.

Fight with me.
