Ever since December 2012 Scana has been hitting me with late fees. I've had then for 10 plus years and always pay my bill on the 15th of every month because it coincides with my pay cycle, and it's never been late.

So I call to find out what is going on with my bill and am informed that I have a 7 day grace period after the due date which was apparently all of a sudden the 7th of December. I apologized and asked if the late fee could be removed. She said yes and so that it doesn't happen again I should consider setting up eDraft and set what day I want my money to be drafted. Sounds great one less bill I need to worry about.

So fast forward to Jan I go to pay my bill again and set up eDraft and low and behold another late fee and it wont let me set up eDraft. I call again and ask if the fee can be removed and was told yes no problem and that they can see I'm trying to set it up but will have to wait again until February to set it up. I also ask if it would be possible to move my due date to after the 15th and was shot down there also.

So now were in February and once again I try and pay my bill when I was told to on the 15th it would be fine and I can set up eDraft and instead another late fee and denial of eDraft set up. I call again same song and dance, I ask if someone could "please help me with this" I was told there's nothing they can do but would be happy to take off the late fee again...ok. And was told in March to pay it on the 15th that I will be able to set up my eDraft...ok

Here we are in March go to pay my bill and TADA...late fee and it wont let me set up the draft. Now I'm just annoyed and called again to see if anyone can or will do anything but this time am told "your just gonna have to eat the late payment this time". I try to explain I was told to pay it on the 15th as I've always done but she wanted to be less than helpfull, I could tell she really liked her job and was told that in the remarks it says I should pay it by the 14th that it was due on the 8th. Well 8th + 7 days grace period is 15th right? She sits there then says "no is there anything else you need"? At this point I just tell her I need to know when my contract with them is up so I can move on to another company.

I'm not sure whats happened to Scana and why they are working so hard to collect this late fee. But at this point I would discourage anyone from using them, since they are willing to do whatever to get some extra cash out of you.
