Children have many pressures in the year 2013.

Random violence, drugs, peer pressure, all sorts of temptations and possibilities to put them down a wrong path.

Imagine a group of students who work diligently and spend hours on a project that is creative, informative, all the while learning as they go.

Now, imagine a hypersensitive woman who doesn't represent people of all backgrounds, but only people who look like her while she's serving on a small city council.  Imagine her berating a group of kids in front of everyone while they were proudly showing their work on a quilt.

A quilt that displayed a black stick figure (black as in color, not race) and a gold stick figure.

The black figure represented the students' uninformed stance on conservation, while the gold figure represented themselves as having been made aware of what conservation is and how it helps the World.

Sharon Brooks Hodge saw racism in those figures.  She was rude, arrogant and insulting to both black people and white folks.  Quote "I am not one of your locally home grown house negroes. I don’t shuffle, I don’t tap dance, and I don’t take out the garbage… Some of the citizens in Martinsville need to wake up because I am black"

Do a search on her name and Martinsville, Virginia.  How can responsible people allow her to have a platform to spew such hateful things and encourage racial segration in schools?
