I received a call from Silver State Holding Company, Inc. back in July 2009. I was contacted by Rosa "Rose" Zuniga, who was very nice and knowlegable in grant writing. I had my guard up and questioned her hard. She assured me of all my worries and gave me the time to research the company and so forth.

Upon researching, I located the owner, Joe Roach. He owns multiple companies, and had no weary public records. I researched Silver State Holding Company, Inc. throughly and found really nothing on them. I bothered me alittle that I couldn't find even a success story about them.

After contacting Rose, I told her I had my doubts that she could find my company a grant of $1.5 million and I should receive my first check of $750,000 by September 2009. It seemed to good to be true, but then again she explained to me the process of grant writing and what guidelines had to be followed and assured me that I was making a wise decision to invest my money in their services. So, with some doubt I did just that, invested my hard earned money into this scam.

The cost of their service is, $7500.00 and I would have to send in half up front, but I told her I could not afford that in these times, and she spoke with her boss who agreed that they would accept $1875.00 and the remainder $5625.00 could be paid when I receive my first check of $750,000.

Upon, receiving my retainer fee, I was promised an interview phone call, which I received from a woman named Rochelle. She asked basic questions, like my age, martial status, own or rent, and so forth. She wanted to know if I had a business plan, which I do have, so I faxed it to her.

No word from Silver State after the interview, so I contacted Rose, which I can never get her on her extension. Their 800 number is whacky and the extensions don't work and it all goes to the "receptionist" who doesn't have the ability to transfer, send to voicemail or anything. She takes your information and someone will call you back. To me it is like they all sit in different locations or work from home. The initial phone number 702-554-1466 has been disconnected.

At this point, I am frantic that I can not get Rose on the phone. I feel I have been scammed, so I research "Rosa Zuniga" and she was involved with another grant company who was fraudulant. I then searched county records to find she is registered to a FFN certificate, Business to Business Funding. My question is, who are they and if she is just an "employee" of Silver State, why is she listed with Business to Business Funding?

I used Google map to look up the business address of Silver State and found nothing in the plaza. Their letter head says their in Ste 209 and my bank says who endorsed my check is in Ste 208. I contacted the company in Ste 207 who states that those suites are empty and have been.

I have been on the phone all day with the receptionist Ashley, whom was hired 3 days ago. She has given my messages to Rose all day today who refuses to call me, knowing I am furious with questions for her. Finally, the receptionist gave my detailed message to the owner, Joe Roach who is supposed to contact me to go over all my questions of this employee of his. So the question is, was Rose Zuniga a scammer for another company and then now works for a legitimate company, or is the entire company, Silver State, a scam?

I will update this and remove it if I am wrong, but I have a gut feeling and want to get this concern out into the public before they send their money to this company. Had I seen this concern before I sent my money, I'm sure I would have saved myself $1875.00.

Sorry it has taken some time to respond to my complaint. I wanted to make sure I was right about this company before I ruined them.

This company is a scam. Anyone who comes across Silver State Holding Company or is contacted by phone or fax about a grant...PLEASE DO NOT BE TEMPTED. They all sound so good and can give you all the answers you are looking for, but that is it.

They will ask you, if this is a scam why would we call you back and send you your LOI? Well, my answer was...so you could keep me satisfied enough and questionable so you can continue your scam on for a few more days.

Today I draw the line.

Mr. Joseph Roach was "personally" taking care of my file and I was contacting him directly by his cell. One morning some woman answered it "hello" and sounded puzzled. At that point, I drew the conclusion this was a rip off. When I later called another number given to me by Joe Roach, it was disconnected. When I finally got ahold of someone at Silver State Holding Company they notified me that Mr. Roach had passed away. In which, I did my research online and he indeed in fact pass away.

The phone number to Silver State is a joke. I encourage everyone to try calling it and you can see what I mean. 1-800-338-6182

STAY CLEAR FROM THIS COMPANY.

This information was not available when I gave them my money and I wish it was. But, it is my job now to warn everyone about them.

Please update on Silver State Holding

AUTHOR: Diane - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Please help.  I would love an update of what has happened since you sent the money to Silver State.  Silver State Holding calls me several times a day.  They tell me it is because I have a 10 point rating and the grant will be easy to get, because our company is woman-owned.  It all seems too good to be true.  They have ask for $1,500 for a $750,000 grant, and then the balance of $6,000, is due after I receive 1/2 of the grant.  The phone number they call me on is 702-777-4493 and comes up on the caller id as SSHC.  My mind tells me that it can't be true, but they can be very convincing.

I feel your pain

It looks like you got ripped off. I was taken by a similar company out of Henderson Nevada with a lot of others as well. Look here on Rip Off report for Small Business Funding Company. It is common for these companies to buy out an old corporation to make it look like they have been in business for years. They will string you along until the contract runs out. Technically they fulfill their end of the contract so there is no legal response you can use. Sounds like this company is using the same tactics. They will reel you in with a small payment like $2500 and then go for the kill asking for $10,000 or more for help getting you 501-C status, and a business plan. All these things can be done using a legitimate attorney or tax professional at a much lower cost, and higher rate of success.

If you are being contacted by a company soliciting to get you grant money, BEWARE!

It is also next to impossible to get grant funding for a "for profit business".
