Auction site uses Proxi-bid to accept online bids, both live and left bids.  When leaving a bid a user can enter a maximum bid amount.  Often times a pre-bidder will be the high bidder at a price well below their maximum.  When the item comes up for bids on the floor the auction house uses the max bid amount to bid against the very same bidding leader.  For example, a recent item had a leading pre-bid of $17 and a max bid of $45.  The auction house opened the bidding at $40 assigning this bid to the same person who was the leading pre-bidder essentially forcing him to bid against himself.  No other bids were placed and the item ended at that one bid.  I actually saw this very same thing occur at least 5 times in the short time I was watching the live action.  The only way the leading pre-bidder should open the item is if there is a reserve or it gets down to his leading pre-bid amount.

Proxibid is a Trusted Marketplace

AUTHOR: Proxibid Risk - ()

POSTED: Monday, June 24, 2013

Proxibid, Inc. based in Omaha, NE is the most trusted Marketplace to sell high-value and specialized assets. Proxibid is a service provider for over 2,500 auction companies and other sellers that qualify to participate in our Marketplace. We provide a broad range of services including technology for fixed price listings, and timed and live online auctions. Our Client Services team is here to assist both buyers and sellers 7 days a week, our Risk team helps maintain the integrity of the Marketplace and our Dispute Resolution team actively mediates issues that arise between buyers and sellers.

MarketGuard™, Proxibid's proprietary bank-level fraud prevention system, keeps both buyers and sellers safe. No other auction provider offers such a sophisticated system and most have no risk management at all. Proxibid has maintained an “A” rating or better with the Better Business Bureau and is 100% PCI compliant so you know that your credit card and personal information is secure.   We provide several tools to enable buyers to ensure a safe transaction online including highlighting our top Premier Sellers on the homepage and utilizing numerous seller badges to differentiate our best sellers.  Additionally, we provide an online tool so buyers can report items that are misrepresented, replicas or forgeries, which we then take immediate action to correct or remove from the Marketplace. When sellers are not able to meet the high standards of the Proxibid Marketplace they are banned.

Our goal is to provide the best experience possible to both buyers and sellers. Proxibid processes millions of bids every month and inevitably something will go wrong with a few of those bids.  We take the time to address each and every issue. If a buyer has any challenges with the Proxibid website or a transaction with a seller we encourage them to contact our Client Services team at info@proxibid.com or call us toll free at 877-505-7770 and we will take every action possible to resolve the issue.

Thank you,

The Proxibid Risk Management Team
