I met this guy by replying to an ad on craigslist for a mobile app developer.  I should have trusted my gut when he called me at 9:30 at night and then sent a text 2 hours later.  He tried telling me how he has a fortune and develops websites, apps, etc  and makes a lot of money.  He initially wanted to meet at a bar, which I wasn't willing to do.  Then he said that I would need to send him my bank account number and photo idea for tax purposes and his accountant would handle depositing the money.  I don't know of any accountant that handles payroll and makes trips to the bank.  He also told me that he wanted me to send him the code to an app that I had created.  Which I just didn't even reply to.  He sent me an app job which had already been worked on and needed some modification.  He set the price and since I was only starting out in this field, I agreed to it.

After seeing the code I informed him that in order to make the changes he wanted a lot of the existing code would need to be changed.  That's when I realized he had no programming experience, because he told me to do whatever I needed to get the app working.   It can take months to complete an app and he thought I could rewrite the code for $200 in a few days.  After I completed the changes he told me that the client fired him because the app wouldn't load.  Which it loaded fine.  While I waited to hear from him I began the next project and had many of the same issues, where features couldn't be done without changing most of the existing code.  Which I refused to do again.  I finally said I wouldn't do anymore work until I was paid from the last job.  Justin said that he would pay me for both jobs the next day.  Day after day for a week he kept stalling, telling me that his accountant couldn't make it to the bank.  Finally he said she went and sent me a transaction number.  I called the bank and they had no record of the transaction.  Probably because Justin doesn't have an ACCOUNTANT.  The money was finally deposited for both apps and I completed the modifications that were possible on the 2nd app.  I did inform him that I couldn't complete all the issues without changing the code and wanted more money for that.

Then the check he deposited was returned for non-sufficient funds and I was hit with a $12 fee.  Justin apologized and said he would immediately take care of it.  After a few days of contacting him he told me that his account was negative and that his imaginary fortune was gone.  Then I was told that if I wanted to get paid at all I needed to complete all the issues.  Stupid me I did spend more time and fixed a few of them and then heard nothing from him.  This time I didn't send him the code only a file to test.  For a week he told me that the client needed to review it.  After finally having enough of his B.S. I contacted the client directly and found out that they fired him.

To anybody reading this don't get involved with him.  He doesn't even do the work himself.  He gets jobs and then contracts them out for next to nothing and can't even afford to pay that.

I'm sure he will send a rebuttal about how I didn't complete all the issues and how the app needs to be done before he pays anything.  Except that he collects part of the money from his clients up front before he starts anything.  As for the issues, he wasn't honest about the amount of work involved in the changes and likes to say that they are small changes and set a price before he sends the code and then could care less if you spend countless hours doing the work.
