My garage door was sticking a little bit when you open or close it. I called SOS out to check it out. The person that came out tested it out for a few minutes and then told me that they just need to adjust the force. After two or three minutes of tinkering with it, they said it was fixed and then recommended I get a new door because mine had a tiny crack at the top. They charged me $91 dollars for this. Several days later, my garage door stopped working all together. There is now no power at all going to the box.
I called to have them come back out and they want to charge me again! I spoke with the person who claims to be the owner who said that they will not come and fix it because they didn't write warranteed on the receipt! Total scam. What company doesn't stand behind their work? So, now my garage door doesn't work at all. I'll be calling a different company. I wish I had read these reviews before calling them in the first place. I hope this saves someone else from doing business with them. I was better off before I called them out.. now I'll have to pay someone to fix whatever they did to it!

Garage Door Repair
AUTHOR: JP McNabb - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, June 02, 2010
Let me introduce myself, JP McNabb Lic#523892 and doing almost any kind of overhead and sliding doors for the past 30 years. We have a no charge if we can't fix it policy.
The garage door is the largest moving object in your home. Therefore it must be maintained on a regular basis. One analogy I use is a car and you have to maintain that as well. Without knowing the specifics of the opener it is hard to guess what is going on and customer service should have explained that to the customer.
Here is what I would do on a service call, See how bad the stress fracture was and brace with a strut if needed. Check the outlet for power. Pre 1993 openers we don't work on due to liability issues, the openers must have two safety reversing systems. One the motor speed sensor, and second an IR sensor mounted 6 to 12 inches from the floor UL325. Then lube the door and opener then test the door by hand, then by by opener, there again depending on the UL standards.
There are a few bad apples out there so call at least three on any job around the house and trust you instincts.
