October 26, 2012 I saw an ad on Ebay for a 1993 Corvette LT-1 with 71K miles in "Excellent Shape". It was stated in the Ebay ad that everything was in good working order and that it had all of the manuals, keys, remotes, ect. I had the winning bid of $7500.00. They requiered a $1000.00 non refundable deposit within 3 days and the balance to be paid within 7 days. I made all payments as required. October 29, 2012 I rented a car hauler and drove to Sarasota to retrieve my newly purchased Corvette. When I got there Daniel Lussier, the car dealers rep., came out to greet me. I did see some flaws right off and brought them to Mr. Lussier's attention. He verbally, and later by email, agreed to fix the flaws if I paid for the parts, and I agreed. The original Odometer Discloser Statement that I signed stated that the car had 71,458 miles, which is one of the main reasons I purchased the car. After paying the balance owed, I transported the car to my home. Later that same day, I received a call from Mr. Lussier and he stated that he had made a mistake reguarding the title and the ACTUAL miles on the car. He said that he would email me some papers to sign and that only after I sign and fax the papers back to him, than he would transfer the title and registration. On October 30, 2012, I took the car out for a drive and the check engine light came on. I took the car to AAMCO to had it looked at and I was told that 5 different error codes came up, but that they were too busy that day to go any further and I would have to come back another day to have the car repaired. Also, the cruise didn't work, the stereo was malfuntioning, and there were no remotes or manuals in the glove box. I contacted Mr. Lussier about this and he said that he would contact the person that he aquired the car from and he would retrieve the remotes from him, and if unable to do so that he would supply me with new remotes. That never happened. On November 3 or 4, 2012, I drove the car back to the dealership to have the flaws repaired, as promised by Mr. Lussier. After working on the car for a short time, Mr. Lussier told me that the repairs were taking too long and that they refused to continue with the repairs. I left the dealership very unhappy and drove home. I than went online and purchased a Vehicle History report from Auto Check and found some very disdurbing information. The Florida DMV recorded the milelage on 10/13/1998 as being 64,960, and again on 10/01/2001 as being 66,553. That would mean that between 10/01/2001 and 10/29/1012, that less than 5000 miles were put on this car. That's less than 500 miles a year average. After driving the car for less than 400 miles it started to knock loadly in the bottom of the engine. I drained the oil and found SAE 90 oil had been put in the car. That's an old trick used to quiet a noisey engine if you are trying to sell it. I've tried contacting the dealership to rectify the problem, but no luck

Roaming Classic Car Dealers

AUTHOR: david - ()

POSTED: Saturday, July 13, 2013

I'm sure glad I checked this website because I was looking at a few of Dan's cars on ebay. I see on this report the consumer never responded that at any time a settlement agreement was reached, and in other report there was no settlement offer not even a response. I also see the company has dropped the Specialty Cars of Sarasota name and moved to a different location. Like a comment on the other report states Beware of these Guys. Thank you ripoffreport for saving me the money and frustration of dealing with this dealership!

None of our employees ever stole any cars!! Read this

AUTHOR: American Classic Car Sales - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 30, 2013

The sales manager you are referring has been in the classic car business for over 25 years and has been involved in over 25,000 car sales bought and sold in his career. He has worked his way from lot attendant and has been partners in dealerships, was a General Manager at a Dodge, Chevrolet and Subaru dealerships. He even has trained salesforces in large franchised dealerships. This employee is very good with our customers and strives to be honest in his dealings. He was recognized as a top seller on ebay with three large franchised dealerships. This award requires a 99% plus approval rating. He has also been very involved in his community wherever he has been. He did have an issue with a dealership he owned in 2006 when his local Florida bank decided to close his $300,000 credit line without notice causing him to file for bankruptcy in order to protect his business and his customers. He fought the bank to make sure titles they were holding on the last 15 cars he sold were released to his customers. This bank was closed down 3 months after this incident due to over appraised real estate loans. The only trouble our employee got into with the local sheriffs office was that he did not stay within the letter of the law if the customers did not receive titles within 30 days. Despite his efforts, his customers were denied their titles by the bank that put him out of business until over 60 days had passed. Many customers were upset. The blog that you are all referring to is incorrect and was written during the heated time when innocent people were unsure if they would ever receive title for a cars that were purchased just before the bankruptcy was filed. We have known this employee since long before this incident. He is the safest person to buy a car from as he has been through a lot and can not afford any future issues. In our closed meetings he is all about helping the customers. Even the ones that don't accept their own responsibility about their buyers remorse. Our company has no credit line. We own our cars and have titles on hand for every car we sell. We have been in the car business for 24 years now here in Sarasota. You don't stay in business that long by accident. To customers thinking about buying a classic car from us or anyone else, We ALWAYS suggest that you hire an inspector. We have a lift available on our premises if you want to look at the car your self or hire an inspector. It's almost to the point that we will not approve a sale unless the car IS inspected as crazy as that sounds. If you are considering a purchase but are leary because of these posts, Please feel free to call me Larry, one of the owners to hear our side of the story at 941-925-7150.

I also ripped off by Specialty Cars

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 17, 2013

I filed a report about Specialty Cars in Oct after I recieved my 119048 mile AMX that was suppose to have 54266 miles on it [ mint car]. The car also caught fire when I tried to move to garage. Specialty cars laughed about problem and told BBB that just make a mistsake in mileage. They never offered me a refund and didn't to this person. I have to admit the time Daniel Lussier spent in jail for stealing cars has taught him well, he now steals the correct way with , false advertizing, incorrect paperwork which he will correct later [ but of course doesn't] and the best have your trade picked up by non english speaking driver. His cars on ebay are now selling for the 2nd time because to get good feedback he had friends buy and leave feedback. Don't get burned like hundreds of others [ He is on 10 years probation for stealing $800,000.00 worth of cars!!!] and me if he was honest he wouldn't have 2 reports here and done jail time. Since this dealership keeps changing names, addresses, and emails often I would advise all of you not to buy a classic car in florida at all unless you know the dealer. This month americanclassiccarsales, before auto image motor cars you never know. I hoped I have saved at least 1 car guy from getting ripped off by Specialty Crooks.

Please call us so we can work something out!! We offered a full refund and we still want to to help you out! This car was traded and we had the car for less than 2 weeks before you bought it. We inspected the car and there were no major issues at the time and you know that we all thought the car was fine during the test drive before you paid for the car. When you started to worry the car was going to be a problem I wish you would have accepted the offer for us to refund your money and take the car back. Now the only time I hear about you or the car it's on this site. We want to help!! Please call us. 941-928-2339.

Even If...

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 29, 2012

Even if the "seller" had no criminal record, one would have to be an absolute dummy to send your money off to somebody you don't know to buy a USED CAR you've never seen. That FACT is as obvious as the rising of the sun!

dealer convicted felon

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 29, 2012

If you check other report on this dealer you will discover he has been convicted of stealing and reselling $800.000.00 worth of classis cars. You people criticize the buyer because he had some faith in an ad. The people you should criticize is the state of florida for letting him sell cars while he is on 10 year probation for stealing them.

Do you attack a person rather than a topic?
Do you initiate this attack?
Do you post irrelevant or off-topic messages?
Is this done to attempt to provoke others?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes then you are a TROLL.
If the answer to more than one of these is yes then you are a TROLL named Chuckie the Outlaw Jose Wales.

Same Ole Story

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, November 18, 2012

We're supposed to feel sorry, right?  You go around with your tongue hanging out for a STUPID car.  You send your money off to somebody you don't know, go to this place and don't even bother to take this car on a test drive.  Incredible!

Another P. T. Barnum example!  "A sucker is born every minute!"
