Sprint charged me over $200 for data usage in two months besides the monthly fee of $100. Although I claim to have downloaded nothing at all (like ringtones, Screensavers, Etc)they still say I owe them for data usage.

The person at the Sprint store said I'd have to use it a lot to have such charges. I never used the phone as a computer. Once I had the Vision portion of my phone shut down they said my data usage stopped.

I live within 200 feet of a Cell phone tower. My boyfriend's bill went crazy with unfounded charges. No matter how we complained it doesn't seem to matter. The answer is this, "You owe us money no matter what you say or do, and it doesn't matter what the truth is. YOU ARE WRONG AND WE ARE RIGHT."

They are all like that. My electric bill went up from about $100 a month to over $400 in one month. What is wrong with people in customer service? They get b***d out because when you ask nicely they give you the nice answer mentioned above. By the way I have never b***d out the Cust. Rep.

DON'T DO IT Sprint still sucks ..Never received $360 Rebate

AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 25, 2007

Sprint has not sent me a rebate check for $360. I was depending on that refund to pay my bill. Now I have a bill of $280 which I would have paid had I gotten the refund. They say the refund is not issued by their company therefore are not able to apply it to what I owe. Consumers are taken to court by these Cell Phone companies, but we consumers don't seem to be able to hold the Cell Phone companies accountable. With so much dishonesty going on with these rebate businesses, Why doesn't the Federal Government crack down on them and look at their books?

THIS IS HOW SPRINT DOES RING AROUND THE ROSEY!

DEAR UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS OF SPRINT. ARE YOU READY TO GET ON THE MERRY-GO-ROUND?
This is the last of my e mails to Sprint and there were many before this. Always the same reply. Consider if you were the customer. I honestly never used the online services. I paid my bill. The Cingular Wireless XXXXX had before, also suddenly went berzerk with excessive charges into the thousands. Those cell towers are horrible and I wonder what harm they can do to our bodies.

Denton says there were no charges for aug -sept billing. it's all piled on the other phone for $100.
NOTICE CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES WE DIDN'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING AND THE SPRINT STORE SALESPERSON SAID WE'D HAVE TO USE AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF THOSE ITEMS TO REACH THAT AMOUNT. LUCKILY IT CAPPED OFF AT $100 BECAUSE OF THE FAIR AND FLEXIBLE PLAN WE HAD.

MAKE SURE PCS VISION IS NEVER ACTIVATED OR YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED! I NEVER USED IT!

Sprint Customer Service

We did not use Sprint for any PCS Serviuces so how can we be charged for it? Are you saying that it cannot be investigated further or charges taken off? Where do I mail my complaint to Sprint or should I write to the FCC and consider this as my last communication to Sprint. Please provide an address for Sprint Corporate Offices.

Thank you

Dear xxxxx and xxxxx xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding this issue.

I have reviewed your account and last invoice and the data usage and text messaging charges appear to be valid. I do not see any charges for premium services such as ringers, etc. on your August 18 to September 17 invoice.

So you are aware, without a text messaging option you were billed a casual usage charge of $0.10 per message for both text messages sent and received. This rate has recently increased to $0.15 per text message. If you would like, I could apply a text message block on your lines that would block their ability from sending or receiving text messages which would prevent you from incurring such unexpected charges in the future. Alternatively, I could also add a text messaging option to each of your lines. Our current text messaging plans are as follows:

* Unlimited SMS Text Messages for $15.00 a month per line.
* 1000 SMS Text Messages for $10.00 a month per line.
* 500 SMS Text Messages for $8.00 a month per line.
* 300 SMS Text Messages for $5.00 a month per line.

Just let me know if you are interested in one of these options, and which line or lines you would like it applied to, and I would be happy to add it for you.

In regards to your data usage charges, you would have been charged a casual data usage charge of $0.02 per kilobyte when using Vision on your phone without a Vision plan. This relates to anytime you upload or download files, pictures, screensavers, etc. or even when you simply browse the internet on your phone. Unlike voice calls, which are charged by the minute, data usage is charged by the size of the file sent or received on your Sprint PCS Vision phone. This casual data usage rate has also recently increased to $0.03 per kilobyte in October.

Our current Vision plans have unlimited data and web access, so, a Vision option would be a great benefit to you if you plan on using the web a lot in the future on your phones. I also see that your phones have had the internet capabilities removed from them effective today, October 17, 2006. So, your phones should no longer be able to access the web so you shouldn't have to worry about incurring such casual usage fees on this phone. I apologize for any inconvenience these unexpected charges have caused you.

I don't believe it would be possible for another phone to download anything using your phone number. If you are concerned about this, you can assign a password for Vision if you have not already done so. To do this, follow these steps:

1. From your PC, sign on to www.sprint.com.
2. Under the ?Manage Your Account? heading, select MY PCS Wireless, enter your wireless phone number and your account password in the appropriate fields, and
click Log In. (My PCS, which is your account management page, will be displayed.)
3. Click My Personal Information.
4. Click PCS Vision User Name or PCS Vision Password.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to change your user name or password and
click Submit. (It will take several minutes for your changes to take effect. You
must leave your phone on during this time.)

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. We value your business and always look forward to the opportunity to provide you excellent service now and in the future. Have a great day!

We went to store but are still unsatisfied and would like you to investigate. We live right next to one of those fake trees that are towers for cell phone companies. Is there any way someone can download on their own phone using our phone
number or could the tower be causing us this trouble?

Thank you for looking into this as we were unsatisfied with the Sprint store's explanation. He said you can send us a detailed letter explaning what was downloaded and account
for the data usage.

Thanks,

#1 Consumer Suggestion

What is the right number of times to get screwed ?

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

How about zero?

Never handle complaints over the phone. Always do it in writing. Stay off the phone! You're probably talking to someone in Bangalore, India anyway.(Not that there's anything wrong with that).

Write and ask for a detailed, itemized list of charges. Also ask for a detailed explanation of how all billing works. Keep exact, detailed notes, every day of your usage.

Don't pay for anything you don't owe. Switch to another company is they won't satisfy you.

Cell companies, in my opinion, rely on customers being confused by overly complicated bills. Why can't cell companies sell phone usage as a commodity, like electricity or gasoline?(They can). Exxon isn't doing too bad using the commodity sales method.

It is time to end the complicated "plans" and all of their other nonsense. Imagine if you had to buy a "plan" for every electrical appliance in your home. Think how ridiculous that would be.

"Hello, yes, power company? Yeah, I just bought a new lamp and a clock radio. Well, I don't know how many minutes per month I'll use them. I guess I will buy a 100 minute plan for the lamp and a 300 minute plan for the clock and I'll see how that works out".

You should be able to buy any number of devices and "connect" them to your virtual meter. Then you pay for usage. Simple.
