I constantly hear the horror stories about Insurance companies - I never realize the relevance until my experience last year. Of course in FLorida we experience wind storms filled with rain etc. My home was hit, and I had severe water damage. Damaging the sub floors, walls, and carpeting in the house.

To protect myself i hired a claims adjuster in the hopes to achieve maximum return on my claim for the damage incurred. The adjuster came in north of 15k - out comes the insurance claims adjuster - does his inspection - sees the same damage. I get a check for 2500!!! Ridiculous and very disheartening to know that I pay close to 2k every year to get such an embarrassing return when i need them. 6 months later I have a lawyer and a lawsuit. Still no results.

I don't understand how insurance companies can violate basic rights and integrity. Now i have mold from the previous moisture of the water. I have to sit in this situation until a resolution arrives or when St John grows some sense of decency.

Simply shameful!

Do Your Homework

AUTHOR: ClaimAdvocate - ()

POSTED: Monday, May 06, 2013

You have the right under contract to demand Appraisal Under the Policy. Your own claim advocate should have informd you of your options before going to an atty who will take most of your money. Did your own adjuster write his own bid and get other outside bids? Is the argument over cost or scope of repairs?

Demand Appraisal by hiring your own appraiser and let the two appraisers hire an impartial umpire to settle the amounts. Your appraiser can be anyone you like that is over 18 and competent, even your pastor or priest. He need not be a contractor but it would help if he was.

Dont know how you hired a public adjuster and then an attorney? Did he just flip you to an atty after the company adjuster blew him off?  A settlement conference comes to mind too. Has anyone fought your case for you?

Sounds like you need to hire a real claim advocate on your side or simply demand Appraisal IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS

Good Luck geeting the right people to help you, it can be a daunting task but look for adjusters who have worked inside the carriers for decades, not contractors playing "want-a-be adjusters"
