My college age daughter received a phone call on Feb 28 from a man identifying himself as a worker from the credit union she was a member of. He proceeded to tell her that he wanted to reward her for having such good credit so he asked her to verify her account number and she did but then of course he asked her to read off the routing number on her checking account and her being 19 and never having dealt with deceitful people did what he asked. Last week she received a NSF letter from her credit union saying she was overdrawn. She didn't write any checks so after further checking we found out it was an electronic check created by a company named "Freedom Gold" aka Suntasia, etc, you get the picture. The joke was on them though. There was never any money in the account so they didn't get a dime. We closed the account and we were refunded our $25.00 NSF charge from our credit union. After digging on the web I see that we are not the only ones ripped off by this company. Has anyone decided to try a class action lawsuit yet? Is there enough fraud to do that? As far as I can tell no one has ever authorized any debit to their account. Giving your account number out and approving a transfer of funds seems to me to be two different things?? Anyway, beware, they are now preying on kids too as I have seen in a few previous emails. How do we as consumers get this company shut down?

Update

AUTHOR: Gail - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 18, 2006

To update you on Freedom Gold/Suntasia, I did get a reply from the Attorney Generals office in Florida and even talked to a representative on the phone. Don't waste your time. This company covers its operation just enough to stay under the radar of the Attorney Generals office. After the Attorney Generals office sent them a letter asking for the details of my particular transaction, they sent a letter back stating they would be happy to let them listen to the recorded phone call and that my daughter accepted whatever they were soliciting.

I told this guy he would never hear the entire conversation and he would never hear my daughter giving them her approval to take $149 out of her account, but to no avail, he was satisified with their answer and my case was closed. I told him I couldn't see how he could let a company like this operate, but I suppose this is America and even thiefs like Suntasia and Freedom Gold have a right to rip people off. All I can say is get the word out to as many people as you know so they don't get ripped off the way so many other people have been. It's a sorry situation when the only way this company makes it's money is to take the hard earned money of innocent people.

The "REAL" people behind this sham!

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Distinct Advantage is marketed by Suntasia Marketing in Largo, Florida. The product they promote which is the "free" gas vouchers are just coupons you send back to them with your receipt from the gas station you made the purchase from. They supposedly give you $100 worth of gas vouchers but you can only turn them in $10 a month at a time. Not ALL gas stations participate by the way.

The airline vouchers (I believe it's $400 worth) DOES NOT cover the cost of your whole ticket either. You have to spend for every $500 airline ticket purchased you can get $25 off with the vouchers. You can only use the vouchers $100 at a time per ticket. The managers at Suntasia will often admit this to their agents but of course they are not allowed to let the customer know. They are told to promote the "free" gifts.

The Distinct Advantage program is no advantage at all. It says you gets coupons for products you buy everyday but when you get their package you realize how much work it will take to get the so called, "savings". You have to mail a bunch of stuff into the company in order to get the coupons plus there are even postage or mail in fees attached to it. Your better off cutting coupons from the newspaper every sunday. It only cost .50 cents.

As for your routing number, the way they obtain that is by asking you for your bank name and the city you opened it in. Once they have that information they type it into a network of banks which are connected to the program and WALLAH!! instant routing number. There is no problem with them having this information b/c routing numbers are just electronic addresses. You can get those off of the internet yourself. However, it's when you give them your account number is when you are committed to the product if you don't CANCEL within the two weeks. The problem here is that many people have been charged before they even get the package. Sometimes they didn't even get the package at all and still got charged.

You need to send them a CEASE and DESIST letter to the company that promotes this sham. Suntasia Marketing are the ones who are responsible.

Their Corporate address is:

Suntasia Marketing
8751 Ulmerton Road
Largo, FL 33771

The corporate officers can be found on their website:

suntasia.com/officers.htm

I would send the letter to their lawyer named, Donald Booth and a copy of the letter should be also sent to the owners of the company. Please make sure you type out a neat, professional looking letter. DO NOT threaten them with any violence. The more calmly you make your demands, the better off you'll be. Make it clear in the letter that you are not to be solicited any more and they are to put you on the DO NOT CALL LIST and if they don't it is a violation of your rights and it will cost them a heavy fine.

I use to be a manager and worked for them exactly a year. I heard of the complaints even from within about people being charged. Don't let these people take advantage of you.

Joe

I work for them

AUTHOR: Darcelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 19, 2006

I work at freedom gold distinct advantage and teliflex and yes I said all three because it's the same exact company.I'm going to give you every last bit of information you need on this company and if you have any questions feel free to email me.Freedom gold and the other companies in which i mentioned are all handled in the same building which is in largo florida when they tell you to write for your refund to the addresses they give you thats just a po box/different address from which they handle the calls. That just gives them more time with your money because they can easily give your money back when you call but they tell us to make the customer write. They also wouldnt even let us issue refunds for a while.

They claim that the company's money needs to be held. They offer gas vouchers and mini vacations in the place of refunds but DO NOT ACCEPT THEM.The gas vouchers come 10.00 a month and there are time shares involved as well.Sometimes they bill you before your so called free trial ends and alot of the customers dont get their packages and i honestly feel they don't send more than half of them out at all just so they can have a reason to bill you and get your money.Teliflex cards dont even work when you get them.More than half of the calls i get for teliflex are due to non working pin numbers.some work but alot dont.If you have any questions I mean any at all please email me and I will answer any questions with no problem.

Filed Complaint with Florida Attorney General

AUTHOR: Gail - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 05, 2006

Last week I filed a complaint with the state of Florida's Attorney General about this company. I did get a reply that my email has been rec'd and they will investigate, but time will tell whether they will do anything or not. I suggested they shut them down for fraud and told them to come and read all these posts about how this business rips people off. By the date of the last post by someone, I can see they are still at it even today.

Just a note to let you know that these people called my daughter a second time last week (April 20) and this time she hung up on them. Since they got her once, I am sure they will keep hounding her hoping to have her slip up a second time.
