My 18 year old son was sweet talked into leaving his home by Jeff Ortasi with the promise of making lots of fast, easy money in California. He promised him fun, travel and BIG MONEY.

We live in the southeastern part of Tennessee and moving to California sounded like a dream come true for my son.

I protested but he was totally deceived by the promise of an exciting life of travel and luxurious hotels just by selling magazine subscriptions.

He's been gone a few months and today I received an automated computer call from the Los Angeles Police Dept. No one was on the line. When I called the phone number for Jeff Ortasi to find out if my son was in trouble , a woman answered and acted as if she didn't know who Jeff was. I assumed it was a wrong number and called again. She answered again and I explained my inquiry about my son. She said he was picked up by the police for house burglary but Jeff was with him and would call me back with additional information. She hasn't called me back and the voice mail says, "This is Trina with Super Star Sales Travel USA".

I looked this up on the internet and realized my suspisions were confirmed! I believe she was lying about Jeff being with my son and I don't think I will
ever hear from them again.

I don't understand why my son was arrested . These people deserve to be prosecutied for their evil crimes against our gullible youth.

I'm sorry for what happened to your son, the same thing happened to me. I found an add on craigslist describing what sounded like an amazing job. It had a link to their website http://www.custom-international.com/superstar.html with a slideshow of pictures that really make it look great.
I spent a few days talking to a women in there "main office", because at first I was a little skeptical, but she was a salesmen. After a few conversations I was convinced. I was told that they would pay for my bus ticket there, which they did. The only honest thing they ever told me basically. Then I was told that room and board are paid for, including food. They didn't mention that I would be paying for it out of what I was earning each week. The way it works is if you aren't making money, you are in debt with them. You get $20.00 a day for food, and I believe $40.00 on the weekend, which is one day a week-Sunday. So every week they "give" you $120.00, at least they make it sound like they are giving it to you before you get there and while you are there. What you don't know is that it is YOUR money that they are taking it out of your pay check, and you are automatically going into debt with them.
For those that don't know, selling magazine subscriptions door to door is pretty d**n hard. You average about $10.00 a sale, they average about 90% of each sale because people rarely get there d**n magazines. Something I had no idea of at the time.
So you end up owing them money right of the bat, anything you make is just to pay them back. This is why the dedicated kids (to bad they don't put this dedication towards something real, like a career), end up working there for years and finally get good enough to pay it back. But by this time they're addicted to all kinds of s**t, they don't know anyone back home anymore, and there life is f**ked. So they end up being one of the piece of s**t managers that keep this whole rotten thing going. Or they finally go home with nothing. Or end up in jail.
I'll tell you what happened to me.
This all sounded so great, I was going to go there, travel around, make a bunch of money, and come home with money in the bank for summer. I was assured that I was going to go to Alaska AND Hawaii, when I got there nobody knew what I was talking about. They hadn't done that for years. Plus only the girls went to hawaii, the guys went to Alaska. They had to work the whole time.
SO after a 36 hour bus ride from Portland, Oregon to Camarillo, California, I showed up and nobody was even there to pick me up. Even though I had been told they would be waiting for me. Luckily another girl was on the bus that had Trina's (the crew manager, gf of Jeff) phone number. So after awhile a women named Robin came to pick us up.
Over the next few days I found out that food wasn't actually paid for, neither were the hotels, nor the bus ride that was promised to me whenever I wanted to go home. It all came out of whatever I busted my a*s earning every day.
Eventually I had to go home even though I was determined to make some money, my roommates needed the rent money that I was so sure I would be able to earn. These people made it sound sooo sure.
So after being all over Cali for a couple months, I had to go home, with nothing to show for my stupid little trip.
I ended up having to sell my 98 Subaru Legacy Outback that I had bought with money my Great Aunt had given me when I turned 18. There was no other way to pay rent on time. It was a nice car, one owner, specially ordered from the factory.
If I would have just stayed home I would still be in that house, with a job, and I would still have my car. My guts told me it sounded to good to be true, and it was. But here is the real kicker.
The women at the "main office" told me that no matter what I will make $600.00 in the first two weeks. So I figured that even if I didn't like it or it didn't feel right. I would take the $600.00 and leave. That was bs as well.
Unfortunately I don't have the money to sue the s**t out of this company, because I would really love to, and I'm pretty d**n sure I would have plenty of witnesses to back up my case.
I hope that someone from this company sees all of these and feels great. You are a waste of space on this planet.
