My husband and I purchased Cher tickets from Superstartickets.com We paid $181 each plus $15 handlingi plus $64.80 handling. We were prepared to pay this amount for good seats. When we received the tickets the price on the tickets was $95.00 each. I believe they owe me a refund because they gouged the price of the ticket from $95 to $181. I was fully willing to buy a ticket for $181 but not to buy a $95 ticket for $181. Do I have any recourse?

Ticket sellers sell tickets through our site at fair market value

AUTHOR: TicketSpot - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Hello! Thank you for your comments. The gentleman from SuperStarTickets is correct. You likely purchased tickets from them through our internet marketplace. We at TS aim to create a secure forum through which ticket sellers can sell tickets and ticket buyers can buy tickets. We are a bit like EBay in regards to the fact that we don't actually own any of the tickets listed on our site. We similarly don't price the tickets or ship the tickets or even charge your credit card. All that responsibility is in the hands of the individual sellers who list tickets on our exchange. It seems you might have been confused by how the process works when you initially ordered tickets. All the tickets on our site are also being sold by their sellers independent of face value.

That being said, we understand that many customers are frustrated by paying above face value for their tickets. Please nevertheless note that the mark-up in ticket prices on the resale market is often designed to cover the numerous expenses incurred by sellers to obtain hard-to-get tickets. The sellers pay face value plus additional fees and/or have fee-paying memberships in special fan clubs and/or sometimes even pay their own mark-up fee by buying tickets from other resellers. The major point of the resale market is both to keep tickets on the market long after primary sources (eg: the venue) are otherwise sold out and also to allow early access to ticket guarantees before the general onsale of tickets for an event.

Generally speaking, you'd want to use ticket resale sites after checking primary sources first just to see what kind of tickets are available at the venue of your event - but, because primary ticket sources often sell out of tickets very quickly, it's always good to check resale marketplaces like ours for great ticket deals!

Secondary Market

AUTHOR: DanceWriteLove - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 08, 2011

Let's first be clear that SuperStarTickets.com is a ticket broker on the Secondary Market. The Secondary Market is any form of buying tickets OUTSIDE of the official box office. Anytime a customer searches on the Secondary Market they have to understand that prices can be above or below face value. This is also explained in SuperStarTickets.com's Sales Terms and Conditions which are agreed on upon every check out. While I can understand your frustration, the price of $181 per ticket did not seem outrageous to you until you saw the actual face value of the ticket. SuperStarTickets.com is a reputable company that is registered with the BBB and NATB. They have been in business for almost 10 years and continue to provide premium tickets to their customers.
