I received an email on Dec. 20th regarding a computer repair job approximately 1 1/2 hours away. The company that sent the email was called TecDirect, but all other correspondence was done under the name of Geeks Home and Office. I agreed to perform the service for $35.00 an hour plus another $35.00 for one hour of the travel.

The total time for the repairs totaled 4 hours. While I was at the customers house, I called the number given to me (214-303-9819) to confirm I was at the job. I then passed the phone to the customer, who was immediately asked for her credit card information.

It is now Jan. 10, 2012 and my calls are unanswered and my time still has not been compensated for. I just called the customer to have them start a dispute with the credit card company. This company is a ripoff and deserves to be litigated.

Strange Coincidence?

AUTHOR: Trader Vic - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 09, 2012

I, too, am having issues with payment for a work order issued by Geeks Home and Office through the TecDirect platform.  My issue, however, seems to be with TecDirect itself.

After accepting the assignment, completing the work and making a return trip at the customer's request I have been unable to do anything with the on-line work order other than read, print, or leave a message.  There is no option on-line for me to log my hours or otherwise complete and submit the assignment for payment.  Multiple attempts via phone to contact TecDirect for assistance have remained unanswered.  Messages left have thus far been ignored.

The folks at Geeks Home and Office at least have the courtesy to answer their phones and talk to me, but I have as yet been able to come to terms with them for payment.  On first contact with them regarding the situation I was told I must submit my hours in order to be paid - reasonable enough - and when I explained I couldn't submit anything via the website they even gave me a direct contact number for their TecDirect rep (different phone number, but same person I had been leaving messages with at the corporate number).  Armed with this new number, I decided to try resolving this through TecDirect.

Several calls later to the new number I was given (all with no response) I called Geeks Home and Office once again to request direct payment bypassing the website - certainly they had ample grounds to refuse payment of any service fees - but the GH&O rep asked me to give him a chance to resolve things with TecDirect.  I was assured I would be contacted before the end of business that same day.  That was Friday, around Noon my time.  Today, Monday at 9:30 local time, I have yet to hear back from them.

Now, after having read THIS report, I am beginning to suspect a possible direct (pardon the pun) connection between the owner/operators of the platform and the company with whom they "do business".

Again, misinformation

AUTHOR: Bob - (United States of America)

I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers from. On your website, it states you paid me $140.00 minus your fee. If I were paid $40.00 per hour, as you claim, then the numbers wouldn't add up if you say that I only worked 3 hours. You need to talk to Geeks Home and Office, which is who my issue is with. My only issue with you guys was that I tried for weeks to contact you and I never got an answer. My agreement with Geeks Home and Office was $35.00 an hour plus $35.00 for one hour of travel time. I spent four hours at the customers house ($35.00 x 4 = $140) plus I should have been paid another $35.00 for my travel. I faxed this information (the invoice) to Geeks Home and Office the same day I completed the work order. I cannot find the original invoice, but this whole mess could have been avoided by a simple phone call. All I'm asking for now is the $35.00 I was promised for the travel. You guys are only as good as the companies and the reps. that you represent. Companies like Geeks Home and Office are giving your company a bad name. It definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

Please follow up technician was paid at $45/hr not $35/hr!!

AUTHOR: tduser - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 19, 2012

Upon further review it also appears that the technician was paid for 3 hours of onsite work at $45/hr and not the $35/hr that was stated by the author in the first post. This would equate to $30 extra for the work and would have gone towards travel time!!

Follow up from tecdirect.com

AUTHOR: tduser - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 19, 2012

This follow up and the previous follow up are both from Tecdirect.com not the buyer / owner of the workorder. This workorder was closed by the technician for 3 hours and there was no indication in the notes of the work order or in the completion form indicating travel time was included. Moreover the total hours submitted by the technician was 3 hours.

We are very sorry that your payment did not include travel, and if you can email your documentation to info@Tecdirect.com we can investigate further.

Again, our records do not show travel was agreed to so please email your documentation.

Your satisfaction with our platform is paramount to our success and we want to do all we can to help.

Regards, Tecdirect.com

Inaccurate Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Bob - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 19, 2012

This owner is very misinformed or is outright lying. He called me personally to tell me he had had someone quit for personal reasons and he had a backlog of outstanding rep. bills due to be paid. He did apologize, but only after I had to post on this website. The fact is, I finally got paid after almost 1 and a half months from job completion and never received a dime for my travel time, even though this was agreed upon in writing. My advice to any reps. wanting to use this company; stay away!

Payment was received, but late and not in full

AUTHOR: Bob - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 19, 2012

The owner of this company is not very well informed. I received payment almost 2 months after I completed the job and DID NOT receive any compensation for my travel, which was previously agreed upon in writing. I still believe that this company is a ripoff and uses and abuses the reps. I personally will never do business with the company again.

Follow up: payment was received!!

AUTHOR: tduser - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 19, 2012

As a follow-up to this report, this work order was paid in full and payment was received within 3-5 business days after the buyer approved the work order for payment. Payment included all time spent onsite plus travel.
