Today (9/3/08) I rec'd my phone bill and noticed that the cost was higher than it should be. When I logged in to see why, I noticed that I had two new charges from companies I know nothing about.

The first was from GOFAXER.COM, INC. #, I was charged for Monthly Business Svc Fee of $12.95 plus a state tax of 6% .78 cents for a total of $13.73.

When I called the phone # (888) 269-8079, it told me that the call could not be completed.

The second was from ILD Telesevices, Inc. (800) 433-4518 and FONERIGHT, INC. (both reflect the same phone number).

When I called that phone number, it asked me to key in my phone number and when I did, it disconnected me.

I then contacted AT&T at (800) 288-2020, which is the Plans & Services numbers to find out what's going on.

I was told by the respresentative that she doesn't know who those companies are and that I have to contact them directly to cancel the service. I explained that I tried both numbers provided and that I could not get through on those lines. She then verified the phone number that she had and the Billing Resource number (GOFAXER.COM) was a misprint, it should be a prefix of 296 instead of 269, but she did confirm that the 2nd number was correct, but that they close at 5:00 PM EST and it was already after 5:00 PM.

I asked her how this could happen and she said that I must of have signed up for service and I explained that I did not and do not know who these companies are. I explained that it is a total scam that AT&T would allow businesses to just start billing me and that I feel it's their responsibility to prevent this from happening. I gave AT&T my information, but never provided my information to anyone else. She explained to me that they are only the billing for the companies and that they can't prevent companies from billing us. She did say that she would issue a credit, but that the record shows that this is a recurring monthly fee and that I had to get in touch with the companies in order for them to stop billing me.

I then logged onto the ripoffreport.com site to see if this has happened to anyone else and I can see that I am not alone. I feel that this is a total scam and that we should all unite and file a Class Action Lawsuit to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

I will most definitely be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning to find out how they did this and I will update this report as soon as I hear what they say.

There is also another one to add to that list. Just got my phone bill and had the same thing happen it was for INTELICOM MESSAGING, LLC # for vice mail that I do NOT have. Called and they told me who signed up for it but not when. The person who signed up my phone number to be billed is a neighbor girl who is NEVER on my computer!! Bogus charges, mine were 15.95. I was told that they would fix the problem and take off all the charges. I was is total shock when I was told it was the neighbor girl that by the way is gone to college and doesn't know my phone number. They said that she agreed that she was the account holder on the phone number and had authorization for billing.

If anyone needs my help with bringing this scam down I'll be more than willing to help!!!

UPDATE:
I contacted FONERIGHT, INC. and spoke with a lady named Mamee and asked what this is and who signed up for it. She claims that I signed up for this sevice via the internet on 7/31/08 at 9:40 AM through a web-site called SMILEYMEDIA.COM. Needless to say, I don't know anything about this web-site either. I told her I never authorized this charge and don't even know what this company is. She said she would cancel the service effective the date that they started my billing. She said that I should see it taken off within one or two billing cycles.

Also, I tried calling The Billing Resource again and the greeting stated that I was 8th in line, and after waiting 10 minutes, finally was the next caller only to hear that they are experiencing extremely high call volumes and to try back later and then it disconnected me.

I then went online to GOFAXER.com to try another 800# and got ahold of a lady who said that I signed up for it over the internet. When asked who, what, where and when, she could not tell me. I reemed her out (poor lady) because I threatened a lawsuit, because their company is billing me for their service, yet they can't tell me anything. She said tht she will have a billling representative contact me within 24 hours.

While waiting for that, I contacted AT&T to ask for a "Block" on my account where nothing else could be added to my bill. This is a form that needs to be filled out and the representative said that they see this all of the time. It sounds like it's "spyware" and they are "stealing" your information while you're out there doing other things on the internet.
