I don't even know where to begin.  My wife and myself arrived at Fort Carson, CO in 2011 and were told that the winter weathers were bad in the Fort Carson surrounding areas.  We went through the winter weather with the wifes 2008 Kia Sorento and wanted to soon trade it out for something different and something the wife wanted.  The wife had did her research online and found "The Sharpest Rides" in Denver, CO.  We took a trip up to Denver to the dealership (stealership) to look at a few vehicles the wife had looked at online.  She spotted the 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML350 Sport Utility SUV that she fell in love with.  There were no issues with the vehicle the day of purchase, but it was not even week after we owned the 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML350 that we started having trouble codes popping up on the dash and mechanical issues with the SUV.  We took the car to a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Colorado Springs, CO.  We asked for a 100% vehicle look over and to have a print out of everything wrong with the vehicle.  After paying $195 to have them inspect the whole vehicle we received a listing of all the problems wrong with the vehicle.  The listing price for all the issues wrong with the SUV exceed over $8,000.  A few of the issues were small cosmetic issue within the inside of the vehicle (i.e. seatbelt cut and had duck-tape wrapped around to hold together, small chip in driver door wood grain).  The majority of the issues were mechanical issues (i.e. crankshaft pulley bent, rotor and brake pads incorrect Mercedes-Benz pads and rotor, rear brake lamp harness burnt and substitute lights on,etc.) and were at the time planning our trip back to North Carolina.  I didn't want to make a long trip across country with a vehicle that had all the issues that this one had.  The day before we left to head across country we had the rotors, brake pads, crankshaft pulley, and surpatine belt replaced which costed us around $1,900 to replace.  Well the day of our trip across country another trouble code popped up with oil low, so I called the dealership to find out what kinda oil do I need to put in the vehicle and bought the oil and added it to the vehicle.  Well not far into our trip the low oil light came on again, and I called the dealership again asking them about this issue and they asked me a series of things to check and i did and none of them were noticeable.  After spending more money on having to keep buying oil to put in the car we made it back and took it to a Mercedes-Benz dealership here in North Carolina and asked them to look over the vehicle for us and if we could get a detailed layout of the issues wrong with the vehicle and to find out why the vehicle was using excessive amounts of oil.  We were told later on that there was a leak on the passenger side head (possible that it is cracked but would cost us another $324 on top of the $183 we had to pay for them to locate the issue and find out what was causing the leaking) and then right after that we were told that we had a power steering leak.  All the components to the power steering assembly would need replacing and would cost $436 for the parts and they were not able to give me a price for the labor.  Today 26August2013 we took the SUV to the dealership to get the Service B done on the vehicle and a part of the service is rotating the tires.  Well they couldn't even rotate the tires because "The Sharpest Rides" took the stock rims and tires off and put aftermarket rims and tires on the SUV and did not even think to give us the key to the lugnut locks because they lost them.  I asked for them and they couldn't even give me a straight answer and then finally I received phone call a few days after we purchased the vehicle saying they don't have the key.  Well not only did they put key lugnuts on the wheels but every single lugnut on the rims are key lugnuts and none of them are the same there are 4 different types of key lugnuts on this vehicle.  I asked the mechanic if he would be able to remove the lugnuts and put standard lugnuts on the rims and he informed me that there would be no way for them to do that because they don't have the right key sockets to remove them.  So now I have a vehicle that GOD forbid gets a flat tire I can't even take the tires off of the vehicle because all the lugnuts are different key sockets and "The Sharpest Rides" lost the key sockets.  Thanks "The Shaprest Ride"!!!  We have spent alot of money into this vehicle and it still isn't really road worthy yet.  We got ripped off so many different ways its hard to explain all the issues and problems we have had.

I will say this, the day before I PCS'd out of Fort Carson, CO in route to Fort Bragg, NC I called "Kevin" the supposive Owner of this dealership and talked with him.  He had nothing to say to me except (verbatim: "Stop calling, if you have a problem come down here and we will take a walk out into the field and settle this as what he calls real men do."  I questioned him on this and asked what he meant by this and all he said back was:  "Come on down and lets take this to the field and I will show you what I mean and I will show you that you need to leave this dealership and state before I find you because I tired of you f***ing military people thinking ya'll own and run this because ya'll don't and I'll show you what I mean when you come down.  So come on."  At that time I went to my local police department just to see what I could do about this and about how he threatened me and acting.  Watch out when you go to "The Shapest Rides" because they will steal your money right out from under you and also give you a false CarFax and not give you the full details about the vehicle.

It Seems To Me...

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 27, 2013

The BEST time to take the car to a mechanic you pay for a check out is BEFORE you buy it!  Kinda makes alot of sense, doesn't it?

Oh yes, you are married to a real woman, a human being who walks, talks, thinks and interacts with society.  She is NOT "the dog", "the chair", "the toilet", "the coffee".....or "THE WIFE"!  If you don't have the decency to refer to her as "your wife" or "my wife" or by name, perhaps you should trade in that car and go with it.
