These thoughts represent my opinion only, but my opinions are haunting!-What can you say when the original owner of the Village South sues the corporation he sold to-Westcare? Yes, Matt Gissen sued the Westcare corporation. I was a 7 year employee of the Village South in a management position. My unit thrived in that it was productive and successful. My employees
gained national recognition for their work in a NIDA sponsored study.

What we got from the Village South was - no pay raises for 5 year period. In fact, my staff was paid more than I was even though I was responsible for this unit which included over 5 employees. I was paid as a case- manager even though I was a manager with over 25 years of experience.

The Village South management team stole all the rewards- Dr Michael Miller names frequently turns up in articles published pertaining to this , Miller known for compulsively calling staff members to place demands on them could not be located, after staff had complaints and sought his help.

Dr Frank Scarfidi an other long time employee- is know for only helping his friends out but to no avail for others. Scarfidi made the most of his position by grabbing all the frills such as becoming national research for Westcare when th e companies merged. Diana Alvarez -Human Resources Director-constantly spoke of the benefits we will be getting but in fact never did. Cathy Rogers, MSW was responsible for many good people leaving the agency because of unprofessional conduct.

Village management knew of her problems, with staff but rolled over like a puppy to ignore these complaints. The fact that her and Scarfidi got along well was all that counted to keep this dynamic duel together. In fact, thoughout all the budget problems Alvarez, Frank Rabitto, Scarfidi all be reclassified in their positions thereby giving them raises -their leadership is inadequate at best and misleading at worst.

Miami Westcare Upper management is a joke

AUTHOR: Keywester - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 07, 2010

I have had a similar experience with Westcare.  I just posted on the site here.

They are a dysfunction organization, with large egos at the top.  They claim to uplift the human spirit. What a joke, they are hostile to the people who work the front line.

THE VILLAGESOUTH/WESTCARE VRS MARYANNE CARSON

AUTHOR: Mustanz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 05, 2009

CONGRATULATIONS! To Maryanne for winning her unemployment case againstthe Village South. Ms Carson was terminated for disagreeing with a corrective action plan. Ms. Carson's supervisor(Cathy Rogers, M.S) along with the head of Human Resources(Diana Alvarez) did not afford Ms. Carson any rights of appeal or further discussion after Ms. Carson refused to sign the corrective action plan without her reservation of rights, and told that this action was deemed a voluntary resignation?
However, ON JANUARY 14TH 2009, THE THIRD DISTRICT COURT OF APPEALS,
stated, that a disagreement over a corrective action plan is and isolated incident and does not arise to the level of misconduct. simply asking for a review of the supervisors assessment is not conduct demonstrating willful or wanton disregard of an employers interest,.....
REVERSED AND REMANDED FOR THE ALLOWANCE AND PAYMENT OF APPELLANTS CLAIM!!!!!!
Thank You Maryanne for standing up and demanding you rights as an employee. I shall hope that the village thinks twice before it tramples over its employees rights.

The Village South

AUTHOR: Mustanz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Did I forget to say that the Villlage South paid my predecessor almost 10,000
more than I made at the Village even though I helped develop the program and make it into a success. My predecessor did not have a masters degree with 20 years of experience, although talented- one must question how the Village pays its staff? What happened to Michael Miller PHD- who demanded so much from staff but did not demand much from the Village- unless it was politically correct and suited his needs.
