This info is about the St. Louis office only. I don't know much about the others.

I worked for this company for 2 years. They skimmed money out of employee's checks. When you worked out hours times hourly rate, it was always short...usually by 3-5 cents an hour. It may not seem like much, but added across all employees it is a lot. They also shorted whole days of pay and wouldn't correct it for months. I was shorted 40 hours once and had to threaten to call the labor board before I could get paid...which was 3 months later. Others were shorted whole days regularly.

When I threatened to report them, they waited a few months, and then started to write me up, even when following their guidelines and City Laws to the letter. I had never had any problems or write-ups prior to this. I left on my own, but I warn anyone who would deal with them.

The Local managers are corrupt. One used to be a police officer and was kicked off the force for having Hot Tub Parties with Underage girls. Also for prospective clients: The local office has an unwritten rule where officers are not allowed to stop any crimes, they are only allowed to watch and report. Beware. Do Not work for them or use them for security.

I had been a faithful employee and I gave 110%. I had hoped that there was some entitlement of seniority for people who worked there the longest at the site contracted. I had worked mids for a long time and the day shift person was quiting (emt) and I was the next in line or so I thought. I requested it and was excited to be getting offf mids. I was then paid a visit at work by the office manager / account manager and he said no, we don't do seniority and we have hired someone for days. I was told that I was a female and it would cause to much problems for all of the construction contractors that were at the site for the remodeling. I was also told that because I had applied for a part time job somewhere else and they called this employer for a referral, that I could just quit if I am looking for another job. I said I was only planning on working the part time job on my days off from this job. The account manager said I should have told him. well it's not his business if I work somewhere else on my days off so why should I have told him? anyways, I ended up leaving after they hired a man to just walk in and take the day shift. They don't treat women equel to men employees and I hope no one uses them for security in the future.

Wackenhut is Way Whacked Out!

I have a few things to say about this sorry employer and I can tell you that the entire private Security contracting industry ( foreign-owned or not!) is corrupt through and through --especially the larger the company and the more international it is.

I personally worked for The Wackenhut Corporation and can tell you truthfully when I worked for them, they worked you like you wre a slave --oh they paid great -- but right when you were used to making a living wage, they cut you loose and erase your existence from their database.

I was a custom protection officer --that is someone who has more complex law enforcement/ police training than the mere state-mandated security officer firearms training in the State of Texas. (This is the company's classification, not mine, incidentally. ) Clients were sold this service and then when the e-economy started going to hell in the early 2000s, the clients could no longer afford us and we were all let go --at least in Austin,Texas. Did Wackenhut try to find other places for us where we could work? Hell, no, they tried to either terminate us with cause ( AND THE LIES THEY TOLD!) OR they erased their company's computerized databases and claimed that we had never worked there at all or they had no record of us ever having worked there. It was not a lie --they really had no record of us because THEY ERASED IT!

They used to have a prison guard contract for a state jail facility in Austin but there was so much sexual abuse, bribery, drugs, male guards raping prisoners, etc. & etc. that the State of Texas booted them out and brought in Texas Department of Criminal Justice personnel and they FIRED ALL of the Wackenhut personnel, including some good people who had no idea what had been going on and tried to stay out of all of it...

No wonder Wackenhut was associated with prisons when a lot of their executive people should BE IN THE PRISON!

And once they terminate you as a security officer, YOU ARE NEVER ELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE WITH THEM AGAIN. EVER!

In my case, I was making about $12 an hour at a high tech company. When that company went out of business or overseas, all the same to me be cause I wasn't getting my paycheck anymore, Wackenhut moved me to a trucking company post where I had to stay outside in the daytime with no potable drinking water and no restroom access --both of which are against OSHA rule and regulations! ( occupational safety and Health Administration of the US Labor Department even the damned security companies have to observe THEIR rules or get FINES!)

I was set up by a so-called "post supervisor" who specialized in getting "problem guards" fired so that Wackenhut wouldn' t have to pay unemployment or other compensation. Also, I took a $7 /hr. cut in pay. I SHOULD HAVE QUIT then...except they kept promising me that I would be called first if another "premium account " came open...

A "problem guard" was a guard who was left over from a contract and there was no other place to put me so they put you at this trucking company prepatory to the employment "toilet flush"... Quite a few of us went out that way.

Wackenhut never gave me any employment references because according to their system, " WE HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS OFFICER EVER WORKING FOR US."

Sweet deal for them.

When I attended their custom protection officer training program with about 10 other people, NONE OF US EVER recived a training certificate or diploma or any written documentation stating that we had attended that class. unlike my brother who had attended that class and had gotten his certificate.

NOTHING WAS ON PAPER.

When I asked why, I was told that it would be put on my computerized records in the company's computer. Yeah, sure it was.

Like I said before about this gang of thugs in polyester suits, they are in Sweden now. Sweden was a BIG ALLY of HITLER during WWII.

And from THAT, you can draw your own conclusions.

I CONSTANTLY TELL PEOPLE
"DO NOT WORK FOR PRIVATE SECURITY CONTRACTING COMPANIES WITH CORPORATE H.Q. OVERSEAS! THEY ARE NOT BASED IN THE U.S. ANYMORE AND THEY DO NOT RESPECT OUR LAWS-- ESPECIALLY OUR LABOR LAWS!

"THEY THINK THAT WE ARE ALL UNEDUCATED, IGNORANT SLAVES AND PEONS TO BE INTIMIDATED AND GROUND UNDER!"

"THEY HATE AMERICA AND AMERICANS AND EVERYTHING WE STAND FOR. And probably moreso than Osama Bin Laden and his crew!"

DO NOT WORK FOR PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD CONTRACTORS -- OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES!
ESPECIALLY THE WACKENHUT CORPORATION ( OR GRUPPE 4 or whatever S.S.- Sounding name they are calling themselves now

IT IS THE END OF THE LINE AND CAREER SUICIDE!

The Wackenhut Corporation, Securitas, are two of the worst of the worst!

G4S(wackenhut) is skimming MORE than just wages now

i work under the pittsburgh office. first off let me just say, this company is screwing ALL of its employee's. they refuse to pay overtime for 40+ hours and holidays. they also short our paychecks, about 5-6 cents an hour. i have pretty much HAD it with this company. the office staff is very unprofessional and they dont make there employee's (in the office) follow the same professionalism that we have to. also in the last year, i have had 4 different area supervisors because they wait 3 months to do backround checks. the TSO flex officers dont get paid to travel, which in some cases will be OVER 100 miles in every direction. they also did not hold true to giving some sites raises because they said it was up to the client to give them to us?

this company treats its employee's like dirt and hires unprofessional, underqualified managers and office personel and area supervisors. if i didnt have a family to support, i would DEFINATELY quit working for wackenhut!

DO NOT APPLY TO THIS COMPANY!

your wasting any experience in security you have because most security companies WILL NOT HIRE YOU after you have worked for G4S(wackenhut)

I worked at the Austin, TX office of The Wackenhut Corporation and this NEVER happened to me.
When my husband was working there, it was another story.
Like you, his checks were ALWAYS short or they would "forget" to pay his some mileage that they had promised him.( He often drove distances of over 100 miles to work when they asked him). We needed every dime he could get, too, because with our combined incomes, we were barely making a living wage. Of course, this is how it tends to be in Austin,TX in general.
I thought that some skimming of some sort MIGHT have been going on too, just like you did.
He would just quietly go to the operations manager and tell him and a month or so later he would EVENTUALLY get the money they owed him. EVENTUALLY.
If there is skimming, it wasn't at the local level. At least not in the Austin,TX office.
Wackenhut was actually a pretty good company to work for, that is, while the economy was good but they don't reward loyality in their employees AT ALL in the Austin, TX - area office. And they tend Not to reward women officers AT ALL!
I suggest you read what happened to my husband (It appears in TWO parts under the "security" designation for the Wackenhut Corporation) for what happens when you attempt a longtime career with The Wackenhut Corporation in the Austin,TX area, at least.
I won't say that they are corrupt or deliberatly cheating the employees, just that they don't give a **** whether their employees get paid on time or not...
I hope you were able to get another job where you were treated better and you got all the pay you worked for.
By the way, they have just passed a law in Texas where it is illegal for you to have knowledge of a felony being committed and not report it. You should lobby for a similiar law in Misouri.
And, in Texas, if you are a trained security officer on-duty and you see a felony going on and damages result from its commission, not only can the SECURITY COMPANY be liable for civil damages (Sued, big-time) but You personally can be held liable individually too. I strongly suggest that you get a copy of Missouri's Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure and read over it before you even consider working in security in MO again so you will know your rights and responsibilities under the law in these cases. I don't leave home without my copy that contains the Texas information!
