i bought the membership last spring 2008 when i went to make reservations when i found out i could only stay 1 week at a time i was told if i wonted to stay longer i would have to up grade to a deluxe membership, so i called Timber Lodge in texas and they said they was not a deluxe park i would have to find a park that was and joined with them, so i did i joined Southern trails in Georgia, i asked campground membership outlet Chad Hoel what to do with the membership i had in Timber Lodge he said write them a letter and cancel my membership that i didn't need 2 membership,

so i did write them 7 times i finally got a letter saying i was stuck with this membership but i could get out of the contract if i paid them $996.00 ,sounds like black mail to me the way i see it i paid $549.00 for the membership which i didn't use they can have the membership back i don't wont to pay dues for something i am not going to use, i plain on seeing my lawyer next Tues. and maybe we can get a class law suit against this company and am also contacting the attorney general of ohio and the bbb also Jim lied to us when we bought our membership we was mislead i ask that our membership be canceled....

I Need Help to Get Out of Timber Lodge

AUTHOR: Ralph - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 04, 2010

This is to Mattie,

I sure would like to know how you got out of your membership for $200 with Timber Lodge? They want to rip me off for $599 to tried to sell it for me and they keep the money for the sale. That does not mean they will let me out of it then. I need help from somebody to rid myself of this scam that I got into. I guess a Lawyer is next, but they just take your money too.

Help Me,

Ralph

I escaped from the Jerk

AUTHOR: Logan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 24, 2010

I too was ripped off by Jim Jerk, however, with the help of the Minneapolis BBB I got out of my lifetime contract for $200, thank goodness.  I think someone should organize a class action suit against Jim and the Timber Lodge RV resort and get the rest of the folks out of their misery.  It was like you stated in your comment that what he told you over the phone when he was selling to you was completely different in the contract.  I was told I could sell back to the company anytime I wanted to get rid of the contract if I sold the rv, "but" try getting out buddy and you are in for a real struggle.  I am going to put my phone number down for anyone who wishes to discuss the Timber Lodge scam and I will offer my help to anyone who needs it.  There are so many folks that are in the same situation and if you all band together it will be a much better outcome.  Maybe a trip to Apple Valley, Mn. or call the gov't officials in that town or state.  There is a solution, just have to find it.

Follow Up Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Administration - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 02, 2009

It appears that Larry and Karen should be directing their negative statements towards Chad Hoel at Campground Membership for the incorrect information he provided informing them to just "write the other resort a letter and cancel". Seems as though he may have said this just to get a sale and obviously was very incorrect in making such claims. We also belive Mr. and Mrs. would be well advised to check with the new resort membership (Southern Trails) they purchased and determine what would be required should they want to cancel out that membership. We suspect it would be no different or perhaps quite a lot more punitive.

Rebuttal For Larry Bellville Ohio

AUTHOR: Administration - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 01, 2009

Our records indicate Larry and Karen from Bellville, Ohio purchased a membership to our resort in February 2008. That the membership agreement is an industry standard agreement.

That in April 2009 Mr. and Mrs. sent notice they would like to terminate the agreement on the basis they purchased another resort membership and had no use for ours. That on May 18, 2009 Mr. and Mrs. were provided with several options in which to terminate the agreement. That several options including the prepayment options are not provisions of the agreement but were made available in good faith in order to accommodate their request to cancel.

That todate, since they joined in 2008, the sum total we have recieved on this account is $99.

That these options remain open to Mr. and Mrs. , or should they choose to provide a reasonable alternative option we would be willing to consider it.
