I went into look at a townhome not to long ago. They seemed friendly enough. I decided I loved the townhouse and wanted to fill out an application and credit report to get approved. I paid 150$ for the three of us to get approved. She said that two of us (one being my fiance) came through but mine was showing up as a non existent person. 

She told me that I needed to go down to the social security office to prove that my social was mine. I asked her if I could just show her the card and she told me she was not a federal agent so she didn't know if I had faked one. (Really? that is how you are going to talk to an expected renter who has rented several places no problem in the past)

So I called social security office who told me nothing was wrong with my social and that the credit bureaus dont normally miss someone like that. I went home and tried looking up my own credit report. Of course it showed up on several sites no problem. I called the management group back and they told me that there was nothing they could do and could not rent unless they could pull it up. 

I asked them if I could see the credit report they originally recieved and they flat out refused. This is my information not theirs and I am so livid they would not show me because I know my info popped up but they wanted to charge me MORE money to get another credit report after I went to the social security office. If they could not pull up my info why would they refuse to show me the page? If they could not pop up my info why not refund me they money that I payed to recieve such info. If they supposedly did not find any person under my name and social then why should I pay for something that was not there? They are scammers. Wait to hand over the check before they check your applications. I dont know how many other people they have done this too and I hope everyone watches out.
