TOSHIBA & COMP USA TOSHIBA A505-S6040 POOR LAPTOP RELIABILITY & POOR WARRANTY/CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY BRANDON, Florida

the Toshiba A505-s6040 is NOT a reliable laptop. The statements concerning this unit overheating are VERY accurate.
I was ONCE a fan of Toshiba laptops & CompUSA BUT after wasting over $1k on this unit PLUS purchasing the additional service warranty from Comp USA, I can NOT warn enough people to stay away from both Toshiba AND CompUSA's pathetic extended laptop warranty. The CompUSA & Toshiba warranty is a HUGE JOKE/ripoff  - after less than 1 month, I sent mine back for repair - overheating - video freezing - extremely slow for its stats and other issues. I asked for a new unit since it was obvious that something was wrong with this unit from day one. CompUSA (despite being told EXACTLY the opposite when I purchased the warranty, informed me that they can NOT exchange the unit & MUST mail it back for repairs) They took their sweet time (over 1 month) to "repair" even though I asked for a new unit. When it came back, it still has the same issues PLUS they screwed up the key board and the "A" key now pops up and hangs by one side every other time you hit it. It STILL OVERHEATS just more often causing the computer to shut down in the middle of your work- you have to wait until the unit cools before it will operate for any extended period of time afterwards. Also, the cheap undersized battery that Toshiba matched with this unit is another slap in the face to the customer that they OBVIOUSLY no longer value- they know the battery sucks & give you the OPTION of buying an upgraded battery that MIGHT actually last for more than 30 minutes (that is the MAXIMUM time it gives you when it is brand new- then gradually, it fizzles down to about 20 minutes of life expectancy then dwindling down less & less until it fries out completely) This cheap battery fried out in under 1 year. I have another few months on the warranty & will try again this time Insisting on a New NOT refurbished unit  BUT considering the experience I have had recently with Toshiba and CompUSA's "warranty" policies - I do not expect them to do much to make the situation right OR me a happy customer. I have to use this computer for work so it is a HUGE hassle sending it in for such a long period of time ONLY to have it come back with more issues than it originally suffered from its extremely poor design.

Another common complaint about the overpriced under-preforming Toshiba A505-s6040 is the cheap & poorly designed screen - at the bottom, the screen is NOT sealed which allows dust particles, lint, etc. to become PERMANENTLY wedged inside the screen. This unit (Toshiba A505-s6040) is very CHEAPLY & POORLY designed, UNRELIABLE & OVER-PRICED

 Toshiba has slid down the ranks joining the many other tech companies that don't care about the customer or the performance of their product once they have taken your money- It would appear from my experience that you are just a meaningless number to Toshiba & CompUSA. Stay FAR AWAY from the Toshiba A505-s6040 and the purchase of any CompUSA warranty
