Trend made an unauthorized charge to my credit card for a renewal of their anti viruses. I renewed in 2012
and they are telling me this is a automatic renewal from then on. Is this not illegal. I am calling the state
attorney generals office in Michigan to find out. Watch what buy from trend online.

It is legal

Yes, it is legal and most (if not all) businesses that have online subscription will have this similar auto-renewal by default. You will need to opt-out (cancel the auto-renewal) by yourself.

Yes, it is a rip off in my opinion because it prays on those who ignore and not read the fine print (and it should neither be a fine print nor default set up by the way). You will need to watch out for this type of set up in the future with any online subscription.
