Beware of this used truck dealer headquartered in Houston,TX.

They use nice big company ads that promise bumper to bumper reconditioning,DOT inspected ready, and much more. You pick the truck you want and they promise to fix it where it will be ready to work. They prepare it only after you sign for it because they sell so many they do not do it first.

I trusted them completly until a series of events unfolded over and over again from a higher apr that the finance company blamed them for but fixed it for me,a truck with lights out, loud airleaks, fluid leaks, brake drums and shoes badly worn and more and it was sitting there with a fresh TEXAS DOT windshield decal as if the truck met the legal safey requirements.

They have a 100% spanish speaking shop and have no buissness doing serious repairs as I had to get the brakes reworked, unproper cam positions and springs came undone on the truck. I have had an exhaust pipe that was cracked replaced, front drums and shoes replaced, new batteries, new starter, rear axle seal leak fixed, tightened loose u-joint bolts, power steering hose replaced (rubbed frame and leaked)(they wash everything to hide problems and use silver paint to hide exhaust leaks)and so much more on my own and have the reciepts to prove it.

They did fix some small stuff, missing knobs, muffler, light bulbs and small stuff like that. Oh, rear drums and shoes after begging them, but still had to get it redone correctly.

I've tried to contact the owner and he won't return my calls so here I am warning you. TEXAS DOT ENFORCEMENT
Why did I take the truck? I already signed for it. Took 2 weeks and 8 300 mile round trips just to get what they fixed done. I have had it three weeks now and only been able to do 2 short runs with it as it is always in the shop.

BOTH HAVE POINTS

AUTHOR: Kwtrucks - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 06, 2012

FIRST: I would not bring my truck to a shop that has only Spanish speaking mechanics.. I want to be able to talk to the mechanic.. as a shop manager I had some Spanish speaking  mechanics and it was very difficult to communicate with other mechanics translating.
Also I have never seen an oem certification class in spainish ( not talking about paper only ase certs) so I highly doubt these guys are trade school grads or have any real certifications if the dont speak English.
I find these guys usually get a job thru friends and never wanted to be mechanics until they found someone who had a mechanics job they could give them..
Also trouble codes are in english as well as most repair manuals..unless you spent a fortune to get them in both languages..
Try calling Caterpillar engineers to get some help speaking only Spanish !

Now.. To complainer.. I you feel the safety sticker was fraudulent you can just bring the unit to a certified inspecting station and have them inspect it. If it fails and has a current sticker the shop will be reported along with the person who signed the inspection..and the fines are astronomical ...so you dont have to write this on here when you have a much better avenue to travel then argue online !

TruckNation

AUTHOR: Ds Yim - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2010

my experience with trucknation has always been very good. they are up front and helpful. being a business owner myself, i have dealt with clients who have issues. not sure why in this case the client felt the need to personally attack the company. i can't put myself in his shoes. i can only go off the several dealings i have had with Trucknation over the past 10 years. i would recommend their service to anyone.  this isolated incident from over 5 years ago should not dissuade anyone from using this dealership.

Mr. Ernest

Mr. Ernest,

You have your information wrong. To tell you a little about the Used Truck Industry, we as independent dealers buy trucks and more than likely are bidding against Freightliner dealers and Select Center for particular fleets. At our TRUCKNATION Houston location we are located next to a Select Dealer. We often carry the same exact trucks that came from the same fleet. So how does your comments regarding this apply.

As to hiring spanish individuals. I do not know if you know anything regarding history, especially US history. Unless you are a native American Indian, your family came from another country. So this makes you an immigrant as well.

TRUCKNATION stands behind all the trucks we sell, we even finance individuals with poor credit to help them back on their feet.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Ernest - You are to blame!

AUTHOR: Sean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 06, 2007

Ernie, you, like many many others, sound like a good hard working guy who has way too much faith in a complete stranger's ability to honestly help you on your way. Truck Nation's job, and places like them, is to unload the crap they have on their lots to uninformed and green (they hope) buyers. The big freight companies get rid these trucks because they obviously become more and more of a mechanical liability as they get older. As a written-off operating expense, it makes sense to keep their fleets shiny and new! Then, remember, most company drivers are complete animals who drive the trucks with no regard for the truck's longevity because the truck doesn't belong to them NOR the carrier. It's owned by a faceless leasing company. The carrier simply pays for the depreciation, use, and outward damage (if any) of the truck. They then dump them on liquidators masquerading as used truck sales lots who spiff the trucks up and lay in waiting for unwitting poor slobs with poor credit who can't afford new trucks, to come along. Not that there aren't any decent trucks out there with 500,000+ miles on them. It's just that you're taking one of the biggest gambles you'll ever take in you life! Therefore, you have to be savvy when it comes to buying a used truck. Why on Earth would you trust anyone employing perdiem day laborers/non-English speaking wetbacks in their shop to give you a solid, reliable, great running truck capable of making money straight off the lot? It's a bit of a gamble to get something good off of a legitimate Selec-Truck/Freightliner lot, let alone a setup like Truck Nation or any other liquidator like Arrow Truck Sales! It was up to you to get under, on top of, inside of, and under the dash of the truck in order to check, check and check again everything against a list, two or three times - OR - bring along someone who knows what to look for, for a couple of hundred bucks. It would have been money well spent.

The "owner's" reply was classic also. He made a lame effort at damage control but d**n well knows what he does for a living... praying on the poorest most vulnerable segment of the trucking industry. He's sure you're doing well now??? If that's true (and I hope it is) it's certainly no thanks to him!

Rest assured though, there are people like myself, members of the OOIDA, watching very closely the practices of dealers' such as these. The trucking industry's future depends on it.

Response to Mr. Ernest Sharky

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 25, 2006

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Sharky's problem with the truck. However, by his own admission we did fix problems that he had after taking the truck. Mr. Sharky also took the truck to get inspected by someone of his choice prior to purchasing the truck and we fixed everything he told us was wrong.

I am sure he is doing well now. He did buy a good 2002 model truck. As the case with anything used you may have some hick-ups but at TRUCKNATION we try to be very fair, this is why we are the largest independent used truck dealer in the country.
