USAA uses a company named CCC One, formerly CCC Valuescope, to make determinations of value of automobiles that are invloved in claims. They have done this for years and continue to do it despite the numerous individual and class action lawsuits brought against insurers, including USAA, who use CCC's services and CCC themselves. These lawsuits all have a common theme...CCC deliberately underestimates the value of vehicles through various surreptitious methods such as using vehicles which have diminished value due to previous accidents or other negative history reducing their value as compareable vehicals upon which they base the value of claimant's vehicles.

Additionally they use flawed and/or erroneous methods for calculating depreciation when using vehiles with different options further lowering the estimated value of claimant vehicles. USAA as well as the majority of the auto insurance industry as a whole are aware of these tactics and expect approximately 30% of claims to involve a lawsuit but they don't care because it is worth it to them. Just google your insurer and CCC to find out if they use them for valuations. If they do you can expect an incredible "lowball offer" for your claims. Oh and by the way they do the same thing with medical claims using a company called Auto Injury Solutions (AIS) out of Georgia to base their denial of medical claims as medically unecessarry. Last time I looked there were 145 reports all ready about USAA on Ripoff Report.

As a soldier I was sucked into the exclusivity idea that USAA promotes. USAA toutes its commitment to servicing military families and advertised the 'exclusive privileges of its auto insurance,' noting that, 'For those who stood tall for this country and for their families, we stand ready to return the favor. All I can say is there is one born every day. I was one before but no longer.

My experience with USAA

AUTHOR: Big Al - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, October 21, 2017

I had a total loss with my truck.  After reading this and a few other reports, I was concerned that I would get a low-ball claim payment.  I asked him before he gave the appraisal numbers how the value is determined.  He confirmed that they use "ValueScope" (which is the prior name of CCC One) combined with NADA estimates and local seller asking prices. After providing the USAA adjuster with pictures before, during and after the fire that destroyed my truck and documentation of its low mileage for its age, I got an appraisal that was above, yes above!, the NADA, KBB and Edmunds estimates for "clean" dealer trade-in.  I wasn't expecting anymore than trade-in value and yet I got above that, pretty close to "Dealer Retail" according to NADA.  This, of course, is just my experience and is not meant to imply anything negative towards those that had a bad experience.
