Vernell Craig And The State Of ALABAMA! Is honesty the best policy? When it comes to the State of Alabama, I wonder. Montgomery Alabama

My wife and I live in the State of Alabama. We were sent a notice of an Aduit from the State of Alabama Department of Revenue, of our 2004, 2005 and 2006 income tax returns. We went to the audit with all records to justify all deductions.

During the audit we were asked different questions by Mr. Vernell Craig, about different deductions and each time we would offer to him the records, each time he would not even look at, nor touch the records.

Case in point, One part we had a $4,400.00 medical deduction and were told that, "No can have a $4,400.00 in medical deduction." I said; you can if you pay the bill.

At the end of the audit I made a statement to Mr. Vernell Craig, asking him "What had we done wrong?" We have brought in all our records for you to look and you diden't even take the time. Mr. Vernell Craig said; "I do not care, as far as I am concerened, you did not make enough money to suit me and no one in Montgomery will disagree with me."

In his official report he said: Mr. and Mrs. ???? ???? did attened the audit conducted on 00/00/0000, they were unable to and did not produce any records to prove deductions when given the chance, all deductions are denied.

Now we are trying to repay some $7,000.00 in penalties, interest and ofcourse the tax paid.

He was correct, we sent letters to the Governor, Commissioner and any one who we could send a letter and NO ONE cared.

It is time we take the power away from people as Mr. Craig and go with the FAIR TAX, we would all be better off because, I found out that honest is NOT the best policy.
