Hi everyone,  I live in Washington State and I signed a contract with vivint then APX in 2009 and I was mindful enough to call the customer service dept.  about a week before my contract was about to expire and then renew automatically.  I was told that I can fax my cancellation letter in so it would get there on time.  I did that; however, I found out that you need to call and talk to the account resolutions dept to push it through.

I call them on a daily basis to get updates on the cancellation process.  When I talked with them last time they said that it was received and would take up to 48 hours to process!  I told them that it needs to be processed ASAP and that I would be calling twice a day to follow up on their progress.   They processed it over the phone.

I informed them that the conversations are being recorded for legal purposes so that if in the event that my contract renews and I am charged for future services It would lead to litigation.  Beware of the offer that salesmen say about free advertizing for their company.  Read the contract carefully and if you do sign take into account that you will go through a coarse of red tape getting out of a renewal even if you send in your cancellation letter.  Just a note... Check their address out on google maps and see what you think.....

Address

AUTHOR: Bobby - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 24, 2012

If you're not familiar with the grid system then you would have no idea that if you send a letter to 4931 W 300 N, your letter will end up far from where you intend.  The real address is 4931 N 300 W.

Viviant Scams

AUTHOR: Lu Lu - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 21, 2012

I had similar experience. Was given innacurate information by customer service last year so missed the cancellation date and got stuck for another year. Now its time to try and cancel service again. I faxed my cancellation letter as instructed by accounts resolution. I called to verify they received it and was told NO they did not. I faxed this letter 5 or 6 times over the last week and get the same response and run around each time I called for verification. I've spent hours trying to get this dine.  Asked a manager to call me back and never received that call. Deceptive business practivce, lies, round around from everyone you speak with. Its horrible. They do everything possible to prevent you from cancelling service even though you completed your agreement! They have no respect for the customer. They want to stick you with auto renewal forever. They trap you, run you around in circles, and hold you captive so time runs out! I filed a complaint today with the Better Business Breau. This is ridiclous and needs to stop. It must be illegal. I will not get stuck with another year. I wouldn't keep doing business with them if they gave it to me free for life! I encourage everyone to file a formal complaint with the Utah Better Business Breau. This company is not above the law. I hope for a class action against them.

My experience with VIVNT

AUTHOR: Mike Calo - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, August 10, 2012

My wife and I had APX (now VIVNT) for five years but have recently changed to a different alarm company.  When we followed VIVNT'S cancellation policy we had a fight on our hands: they simply refused to recognize "cancel" as a real word.  We sent a letter as they required and we talked to some guy on the phone who kept trying to sell me stuff, talking over me when I was answering his questions about "well, which new company have you gone with?" [I'd d rather not say] "'but sir, we need to... " [no, you don't] and "well, we have a new touch-screen system"  [that kind of toy doesn't matter to us] and I finally had to get firm to the point of almost getting nasty.  I confirmed that we were being recorded, then reiterated five points with him - that they had received our cancellation letter; that he had indeed entered our cancellation into their computer system; that we wouldn't roll over into a new contract; that when I called back in 2 - 3 days our account would show CANCELLED; and that we would no longer be billed.

BTW - I tried their address - 4931 North 300W Street, Provo UT - on BING maps and found it, although with a bit of trouble.  The REAL address, for purposes of mapping, is 4931 W 300 N

You were lucky.

My Vivint contract says cancellation must be received by them no later that 30 days prior to current contract.

Glad it worked out for you.

BTW, I DO like their service. I'm in my 3rd year.
