I was preparing to graduate with my masters degree and decided that I would like to pursue a further degree. I saw information on Kennedy Western now Warren National and thought this might work and be good as I did an at home degree with my masters, but it was through a local accredited university at the time. I started the PhD program and was working hard got a's in both classes.

I paid all of my money upfront with a school loan I opened until my company could pay me back. I was working on my degree when my father fell ill and I had to move out of state for my job. I decided that I didn't have the time to do this as well as work and try to make sure everything was ok on my family side. So I called about 3 months ago to talk to them about possibly withdrawing and getting a refund.

They said I could withdraw completely but if I decided to start the program at a much later date I would lose my credit. SO I stayed on, until my father got a little worse and I was traveling a lot there as well with work. So I decided to find out if I could withdrawal and get a refund. I was told I needed to write a letter which I did stating the reason as well as how much of a refund I would want back.

I received my letter yesterday and my withdrawal was granted, but my refund not and at the end of the letter it stated if I was interested in re-starting the program to contact the school. SO I emailed the person I had been talking to last night and told her I have decided to finish it up since I can get my money back and that I was disappointed. They did explain there was a notice in our agreement that stated so many days to get your money back.

Which ok it's an agreement, so I'll just find a way to finish the degree I paid for. But today I get an email from the registrar "We are not currently enrolling (re-activating inactive) students. As it is the University's first responsibility to support our current students, we are focusing all of our efforts, energy and resources to support our current active students." I thought up until yesterday I was a student and the fact is it's not like I haven't been a student for a year.

I can't believe this. If they don't want to give the money back ok then let me finish out what I paid for and cancel my withdraw which is not very old.

I had read online that others had been having the same problems as I did and I was horrified because that money is money I have to pay back for something now the school is denying me to complete. I understand I signed an agreement that if I withdraw after a certain time that I was not going to be able to get my money back, but if this degree isn't worth anything then give me my money back.

I signed an agreement ok then if you wont' give me money back then let me continue with the program, as stated in the confirmation letter from the university I have the right to be allowed back in the program. So I have now lost about $5000+ of my own money to pay for something that I will not get anything from.

What am I to do? It's ok if you don't give me the money back but at least let me back in and finish what I paid for. You got your money already. Don't' give this "We are not currently enrolling (re-activating inactive) students. As it is the University's first responsibility to support our current students, we are focusing all of our efforts, energy and resources to support our current active students." That's not an attitude to have when you are coming up for an actual accreditation and that accreditation organization can ask for third party opinions.

Help.
