I'm a victim of WAMU's ATM deposit and debit card scam. I understand that this is how they get their money but in less then 3 weeks Wamu has really made life a living hell. This happens on the weekend, since on Monday they do the numbers for the weekend.
Here is how the ATM scam works, below are numbers which are for sample only:
Lets say you have $200.00 in your Wamu checking account. On Saturday morning you make a transaction of $25.00, that afternoon another for $25.00, and on Sunday morning another for $10.00. You should be left with $140.00. Sunday afternoon you go shopping and spend $145.00 and make a tranfer of funds for $40. But if Wamu sees a large some of $145.00 they will posted it after all your previous three transactions, leaving the consumer with a negetive balance, and charging the consumer 3 overdraft payments. They are making millions in overdraft fees using the higher sum to the lower sum scam.

Thank you

Lord, Will This Ever End?

"Sunday afternoon you go shopping and spend $145". The only problem is you only have $140 in your account BEFORE the transfer. How about you only spend the $140 you DO HAVE in your account and not try and play catch up. The deposits go in after the withdraws, which would put you in the negative anyway AND when you do the transfer, it'll go on the next day's business MONDAY, which will further put you in the negative as all those transactions are gonna hit BEFORE your transfer.

IF it was only that simple. ALL you had to do was spend $139 instead of $145 and NONE of this would have taken place. I'm getting real tired of reading all these posts. People spending money they don't have and complaining how the banks screw 'em over on NSF fees. This isn't for the other folks. Just the ones who out and out admit they spent more then they had like the OP.
