I submitted one of photograhs to Pictures.com as an entry into their photo contest. After submitting the photo I realized that it was far to easy to submit my art work plus I did not receive any confirmation either through email nor mail. I then went back to their websit and discovered that my art work was already displayed and that it was due to be published in a book in "December 1999"! Notice "1999"! As soon as I saw this and the prices of their "books" I knew that I had gotten myself involved in a scam.
On July 15,2007 I filed an on-line complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland against "The International Library of Photography Owings Mills, MD 21117" a.k.a "Water Mark Press". Here is a copy of the complaint wording:
"I have been unable to contact a person of authority at "The International Library of Photography, at 3600 Crondall Lane,Suite 101, Owings Mills, MD 21117 or at any their numberous other address in order to withdraw my previously submitted work of art entitled "xxx"(which may also be listed as a photograh)and to revoke "The International Library of Photography's" right to represent me or to display, promote, advertise, mention, offer, list, publish, sell, give, give away, or reference my work of art entitled "xxxx" in any form, manner or media whatsoever, without exception.
Futhermore, it is my intention to immediately revoke and severe any association between myself, xxxx, and "The International Library of Photography Owings Mills, MD 21117" or any their numberous other names and addresses."
Earlier today, I received an email from the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland informing me that the case was resolved. Water Mark Press a.k.a The International Library of Photography submitted this response to the BBS:
"Please advise this Customer that we have closed his account with us and we have removed his Picture from our Website."
My Recommendation:
If you are involved with "The International Library of Photography Owings Mills, MD 21117" a.k.a "Water Mark Press" you may want to consider filing a complaint about your situation with the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland.
