Over thirteen months ago, I contacted this company to have two leather shawls made.  My credit card was charged the same day for the full amount so that Kelly could buy the leather.  It is supposed to take 12 weeks for custom orders according to the website.  I allowed 24 weeks since I ordered two.  I am still waiting.

I have contacted the company many times by phone and e-mail.  Sometimes I receive a response, but usually I don't.  I have been given many different shipment/delivery dates over the last eight months.  I have dealt primarily with Kelly, but also with Gwen and Shannon on occasion.  I have heard from all three of them that Kelly's health problems have made it difficult for her to get my order done, and that other designers were being called in to help.

I have told them that, if they can't get my order done, I would like my card credited.  That request is consistently ignored, on voice-mail and e-mail.  I have never had business interactions like this before (and I am an excellent consumer).  If I had seen these rip-off reviews prior to placing my order, I would never have gotten involved with this company.  Hopefully, someone will see mine and avoid the same mistake.  At one point, this company had a Better Business Bureau rating of "F" (now it says unrated).  I told someone (I believe it was Gwen) that I would be so embarrassed to be employed by a company that values their customers so little.

The latest word from Western by Design was today (3/29/13) - they are working had on my order and plan on having it done next week.  I am hoping that I can add an addendum saying that I received my shawls and that they are beautiful.  Like I have told them in our correspondance, I don't know that the shawls exist, even in an uncompleted form.

Still waiting for my credit

AUTHOR: Kelli - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 12, 2013

It has been over four months since I returned the shawls. I still don't have my credit. I have asked for a check to be sent to me if crediting my card for $920.00 is a problem (since the order was placed in February of 2012). The last few times I have sent e-mails or left voice-mails I have not received any response. I will keep trying though.

Another update - still waiting for credit

AUTHOR: Kelli - ()

It has been two months since I returned the merchandise. I am still waiting for my card to be credited. Just checked with the credit card company this morning, and they have no record of it (yet).

Another update to my original report

AUTHOR: Kelli - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 16, 2013

I got one of the two shawls last weekend. However, it wasn't what I expected in any way (style, color, length, type of leather). I think it would have been helpful if I had received some kind of paperwork so that I could make sure that we were both on the same page. I don't know if the other shawl was sent or not, but I asked Kelly not to send it if she hasn't already. I sent the shawl back on 5/13/13. Kelly was very nice on the phone after she got the e-mail that I sent on 5/11/13. She told me that she would give me a complete refund. Currently, I am awaiting a credit to the card I used (or a check would be fine).

Update to my complaint

AUTHOR: Kelli - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 01, 2013

Kelly called me this morning and wanted me to know that all customers (with the exception of me) who have written ripoff reports have been taken care of to their satisfaction (and beyond).  I have no way to verify this.  However, I agreed to give her until May 1st to have my shawls to me.  I am writing this because she is under the impression that updates cannot be added to ripoff reports once they are posted and I just wanted to see if she is right.  If I write back, you will know that I didn't get my shawls.
