I recently contacted theWindow World company based on an advertisingon TV that I saw in FL 1-800-WINDOWS and was transferred to a franciseein Sarasota, Florida (I was not aware that I was going to adifferent location)to get a bid on replacing my homes windows based on their national and local advertising of $189 per window.

When the bid came back at over $400 per window I was shocked and asked about the increase. I was told that "we don't charge $189 in FL". Even though the windows are the SAME windows that they sell all over the country for the $189 price. Not even the "hurricane" windows that are sold in FL.

I contacted the president of the company and he didn't do anything. Also the local francise said that each division of the company can charge whatever they want and blamed the problem on each other. This is a blatant "bait and switch" tactic at best - fraud is what I would call it. Absolutely doNOT deal with the FL Window World for any reason. If youdeal with any other location beware as the corporate office will not help you in any way.

We have also contacted the State Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau and are looking for people who have had similar problems to help us get them to either change their fraudulant advertising or at least be honest with people as we would like to be treated.

Window World does have a 189 window.

AUTHOR: 3Dartisan - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 30, 2012

I worked for Window World for several years.  Anyone who says they do not have a 189 window is not being totally honest or they didnt listen to their sales rep or there is also the possiblilty their sales rep didnt properly explain it to them.  Every window sold has an initial price tag of 189.  That is a double pane, double hung, vinyl framed window.  This price is good for a window up to 48" wide up to 101 united inches,  It is a basic window.  This price includes installation but it does not include the removal of metal windows in stucco or concrete.  If you have old wooden windows there is no charge to remove those because the new window is place inside the wooden frame.  The only time the price increases is if the customer requests certain items to increase the energy efficiency or decorative additions such as grids or outside trim is needed to make the window look right.  Another thing that has to be kept in mind is that in certain areas it is required by law to have a certain design pressure or impact rating on a window.  Some people cant buy just the 189 window because they live in a hurricane zone and are mandated to have a high impact window to comply with local building codes or they are required to have some form of hurricane covering in addition to the 189 window.  Window World is not scamming people.  Granted it might be a ploy to get people to call them by advertising their least expensive product but who doesnt do that.  When you compare apples to apples and look at what the competition is charging for the same caliber of window you will be hard pressed to find a reputable company that will give you a better deal.

Same window issue and bid not honored

AUTHOR: zoro2009 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 06, 2012

In May 2011 a bid was offered and I agreed...when the contract came it included very different price options... and then I voided the contract. Sent the Koenigs a copy of the bid which states on the document that they honor all other bids. Apparently just not their own. I was advised after seven months in the dead of winter they would install. Local contractors said 'If it had been 40 windows it would have been done". I did receive my check back and believe they have a history with yanking around older females.

$189 Windows do exsist in Florida

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 18, 2011

I recently purchased windows from Window World in Central Florida. The price of my windows were $189 plus 7% sales tax which is stated on the contract. I questioned the comment "installed" which was included in the advertisement. If I remove my own windows and bought just the basic window then I would be charged the $189 plus tax, a set up and disposal charge and the charge for a permit. Permits are required in Florida. I did upgrade my window to include the energy package and paid the labor for the removal of my old windows which were cemented in by the builder. These windows have proven to be very energy efficient and have made my home look almost brand new. I have even purchased a sliding glass door. Yes my windows were more than the $189 but that was my choice. Not all Window Worlds are the same and should not be grouped together. Always be an informed consumer, check around you will find the good with the bad. I am a proud and happy customer of Window World.

$189 does not exist

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, October 14, 2011

the majority of their contracts nationwide do not have a $189 on the contract. clearly bait 'n switch. they give the homeowner a "lame" excuse why it is not on there. this is clearly a character issue and buy from someone else. the bbb had a lawsuit several years ago against them and gave up because window world out spent them in the state of north carolina. ask yourself  "how can a window in 1995 cost $189 and 16 years later still cost $189? it is impossible!!!!!!!!!!!!! quality and the truth are non-existent with them. a few more dollars can get you a much better and higher performing window.
