our house burned down march 11th 2007 we paid our home insurance through our mortgage company every month we didnt have our personal property insured but our home that I've lived in for 20yrs was we had help from allot of kind people who helped rebuild our personal property furniture, clothes, etc the only one who has failed to help is the ones who get our money every month zc sterling our insurance was covered for up to 118 thousand all we asked for was enough to rebuild our house and all they sent us was 53,980.36 that is hardally enough to rebuild our house. we havent signed the check guess they think we are desperate enough to settle for anything it is now may 31 2007 we are renting plus still paying on a house which is burned to the ground and you know who else gets paid when our mortgage is paid zc sterling we cant pay rent plus a house note to someone elses housed burned down two days after ours they should be back in theirs in 3wks ours cant even get started.. because they fail to do the right thing

It is very important to know what type of policy you have. There are replacement cost policies and actual cash value policies. If you have a replacement cost policy, they are obligated to replace your home up to the stated amount on your policy. If you somehow unknowingly purchased a actual cash value policy, the company only has to pay actual cash value of your home. So even if you have it insured for $110,000 but the home is only worth $40,000 they only have to pay the ACTUAL CASH VALUE in today's times.
