Do not use e-file with H and R Block. I have in previous years and all was fine, in fact it was free to efile over the net... however this year... they are a rip off... to efile you have to pay... in the option to have it taken out of tax return.. they do not tell you that your check will be deposited into the H and R BLOCK bank and held for additional 3 days .. business days.. so I paid an extra 40.00 to have them hold my money in their bank gaining interest on it while I wait for my refund..
BEWARE of this before you efile with them or use their services at all.. there are many other FREE efile online.. go to the irs.gov site and choose from there... if you use h and r block you they will hold your refund hostage, while they are gaining interest at the bank off it.. not to mention charging you a fee for doing this.. no where in the contract or information does it state that they hold it for 3 business days... dont bother calling them because you will get hours of hold time and when you get a person on the line they will be as misimformed and confused as if they could put a talking parrot on the phone to take calls..
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE .. IT IS A RIP OFF !

You have to link from the IRS page to use it, though. In fact, we just filed our taxes with H&R Block with the freefile program and didn't have to pay a dime. And the money wasn't held.
Did you link through to H&R Block? Or did you just type H&R into your browser?
Log in to www.hrblock.com and check to see if it says "BASIC" or "Premium" or "Freefile". If it doesn't say freefile, you didn't link through the IRS.
I am sorry you are going through this. I know it's tough to wait for money.
Good luck!

I have used H & R block basic services online for the past few years now. Last year it cost me 10.95 to use the service because they added audit protection to the list of services.
I haven't filed yet this year but I have started the process and I know that it will cost me 14.95 and I will pay it when I file (not let them take it from my refund)
In the past and I anticipate this year will be the same I will have my refund directly deposited and I will have it in my bank within 2 weeks.
As far as the free efile even the IRS website states that you can efile through them for free providing your gross income was less than 54,000.
I followed the link from the IRS to H&R Block and didn't get choice to free file. Just Basic and Premium. Although if you click on the link for refund options you can see what all the choices are to get your refund, if you don't read those you might be confused on what to do.
