I went on Sunday, January 22, 2012 to have my taxes prepared here. I usually go to H & R Block, but I was told that they were pretty good as well. On top of that, my husband and I were having some financial difficulties, and this place advertises "quick refunds''.
When going in, I noticed how 'ghetto' it truly was. The two women were listening to the radio, eating mozerella sticks, and surfing the net. When I walked in, I was even told by one of the women that they were surpised that I'd heard any good thing about them. Anyway, the tax process itself wasn't that bad. It didn't take long. However, the preparer who did my taxes didn't really explain anything at all. She asked me all of the questions, and when I had questions, she wasn't knowledgeable about much of anything. I asked her about all of the advertisements about 'getting a check in a couple of hours'. She told me that she would apply for this 'loan' for me, and I would hear something by the next day.
The next day, I called to see the status of my so called loan. They told me to call back by 2pm. I did. Still nothing. I called back an hour later. This time, my sister was there in the office when I called, getting her taxes prepared.
My sister called me later, telling me that while she was in the tax office, the women were talking about me after I had called. She said that they were talking about my loan information, discussing my personal information, and then progressing on to complain about me calling 'so much', and how I looked like I was nine months pregnant and so forth.
Needless to say, my sister told them that the woman they were talking about was her sister, and that she would not be getting her taxes done there. They looked on, mouths wide open.
Well, now I am pursuing legal advice. Why? For one, what they did was considered Public Disclosure of Private Facts, which has in fact caused me emotional distress (I had just gotten released from the hospital two days prior to my visit to this place). Also, these people are going haywire with false advertisements. When you call and try to get the number to corporate, they act as if they do not know the information, and they take down your number, and tell you someone will contact you within 7-10 business days.
This is the worse place EVER. They are not professional, they do under handed things (offering people with no employment tax refunds by falsely claiming self employment if the client will give them a portion of whatever refund they get back as a result of this) and they just plain out lie. I am not going to give up until this place is shut down.
