I've used taxbrain with ease for nearly a decade now. I have, until now; been pleased with their services. Taxbrain sends out completed tax returns allowing the individual to charge their fees by submitting returns to another bank , which collects the fees and then disperses the remainder of the return to one's personal bank account. After calling the bank, the IRS, and the bank taxbrain is suppose to work with, I received the contact info for the bank to which they negligently sent the return..... I finally figured out what happened. It wasn't taxbrain who explained what happened, it was the other people I contacted. When I made inquiries to taxbrain, they were curt and told me that they didn't know what was going on, and neither would any of their supervisors be able to explain exactly what had occurred.

Today, I received an e-mail explaining what I already knew and offering an apology. They generously offered to waive the filing fees since it would probably take up to eight weeks to receive a check. Meanwhile, I am having a nervous breakdown, while I watch the overdraft fees in my bank account accumulate. The stress this has caused is unbearable! I am two months behind on my mortgage, and on my car payment... still waiting for my disability payments to kick in. This whole situation has been a nightmare!

Who committed fraud???

AUTHOR: MNlawgeek - (United States of America)

It really bites that you had a bad experience.  One mistyped number in a bank transaction can cause awful problems.  Although unfortunate; by setting up bill pays and writing checks or transactions in anticipation of the deposit 1/29/10 meant that you committed federal bank fraud by spending money that was not in your legal posession.  The overdraft fees that the banks charge are a gentle reminder that you committed a crime and instead of turning you in for prosecution they are going to just make you pay financially.
