Our family was one of the unfortunates who filed with Taxbrain and had our fee deducted from the return. We have used Taxbrain for the last 5 years. No more. They routed our funds to the wrong bank, which in turn had to return our money to the IRS. Now we are lost in cyberspace or a "dump file" for rejected funds, and can expect our money in the next 3-6 weeks, if it ever shows up at the IRS.
We received NO e-mail from Taxbrain regarding any of this. All our information had to be gleaned from Yahoo boards and phone calls to the IRS, SBBT and Republic Bank.
Mistakes, even big ones can be forgiven, but no totally ignoring a customer by referring them to the IRS when Taxbrain knew the truth. The most ridiculous comment they made was that our tax preparation fee would be "waived". Duh. If the IRS has no legal means of deducting the feel from our checks. THAT would have been done by the bank that was SUPPOSED to have received our money. But thanks for the offer of free tax preparation for next year. I'm hoping I'll receive my 2009 refund by then.
If you have EVER been in a situation where the one person who can give you an answer doesn't, then you know how we feel about Taxbrain. It's back to (((competitor's name redacted))) for us, and every person we talk to from here on out.
sorry, …allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
