I really am not an Aflac fan right now - for different reasons but at the same time I must answer your concern.  I noticed you were out of work for 1 week.  I know of NO disability that will begin to pay on illness until a waiting period has been met.  There are a very few exceptions for accidents that start on day one.

With Aflac disability when you are discussing your coverage with the agent you should be given the details and in some compainies you have to choice of choosing your waiting period.  Most actually choose 2 weeks in order to keep premiums affordable. They may have to use sick days, vacation, or savings for brief times. This means you receive nothing during that  that time frame.  You need to read your policy.  Aflac does pay legitimate claims - I have seen many.

Dropping your coverage could be cutting off your nose to spite your face as there may be a time when you are out of work for a much longer time period.  Disability with any company is there for the surgery, child birth, cancer, heart attack, car accidents and so many other things that can happen to us. 

Sorry you are angry, seems you either didn't understand or were not well explained to - but you probably were not ripped off.
