American Income Life - Alig International Definitely a Scam I got out soon enough. ripoff Burnaby British Columbia
Luckily I saw through the scam at the 'interview' stage, but can confirm much of what has been written about American Income Life,(otherwise known as AIL, or Alig International.)
I was laid-off shortly before Christmas without a severence package, so when I recieved the email saying someting to the effect that Alig International was interested in my resume, I was quick to set up an interview.
I went through several interviews, all went stunningly well, I was repeatedly congratulated on my progression to the next level. Eventually I wound up in a room with several others some of whom didn't speak english entirely well, and a very young, not seemingly well educated girl made a presentation that gave me the following impression: Base Salary was 32,000+, the company was expanding, and leads were provided. So far so good.
Subsequently, during a further interview the next day, I asked the questions that I should have asked previously: Turns out: No salary, the position is actually self employed, the charge $940 over the course of 5-6 weeks for insurance certification during which time one has to attend at the companies offices. I told them off and left.
As other postings have stated, they may well make most of their cash from the money paid for training. I've written to the BC ministry of labour to report them.
In closing I should say that I too was taken in by them and I feel for those who were financially harmed by them. I only just avoided that experience. Luckily I didn't have the money, because if I did I might have gone for it!
