In January of 2004 my husband and I called our second mortage company HouseHold Mortage, we wanted to know where the additional $19.95 per month optional insurance was going as we didn't have a policy. When I called Household mortage they transfered my call to Assurant Solutions which they said was a death benifit policy. I called Assurant who told me our policy was cxl in June of 2002 I said that we pay $19.95 per month to Household where was that going they didn't know. I asked them who cxl the policy and the said my husband he was sitting there and said no he did not.
I then called Household back who said oh call this number, I then called another number who said we now have a warranty on our cars and a $10,000 life insurance policy I stated to the lady that we would never change a policy to include a warranty on any vehicle as I am in the car business and my work is free. She said that my husband said he wanted the policy again he was right there and never said anything. I told the lady I wanted a copy of everything she had and that I would call Household mortage and get it handled.
On March 6, 2004 my husband was killed in a avalance. On March 16, 2004 I called Household Mortage to tell them of my loss, I was transfered to Assurant who sent me a death benifit form, now I still don't have any thing in writing from anyone. But on March 23, 2004 Travelers Insurance (owned by american bankers and Assurant} sent my husband a check for preimuns paid to them in the amount of $399.00. I called them and asked what they were doing and they told me that in January I called and cxl the policy, Now I ask why did I pay January, Febuary, March payments to include the optional insurance if I cxl it.
I have sent everything to the Idaho State Department of Insurance as of this date I am still getting the run around. So everyone out there get all your policy's in order don't wait until it's to late. My husband was only 45, it was the only insurance we had and now it's not doing me any good.
